Africa

To get this thread back on track, I seem to recall the much missed Saviem telling us of Transports Chapuis from Lyon regularly running to Lagos Nigeria in the mid 70’s using 6x4 Saviem units and tilts without any problems other than planning. I think things would be different today, the roads are much better the Trans Sahara Highway has transformed long distance travel across Africa however you would need a small private army to get a western registered truck with a high value load there safely. Anyway can you imagine the cost and how many snowflakes would give it a go even once, never mind turn around and go straight back, it will not be happening ships snd planes will take care of anything that’s required in my view.

Out of interest Google maps gives Birmingham to Johannesburg at 8393 miles one way.

If it’s Nigeria even if the load gets their safely you can bet that neither the ‘shipper’ nor the Consignee has any legal ownership or claim to it.As for a return load don’t even go there. It would be interesting to find out exactly who is going to take receipt of May’s 4 billion quid in that regard. :smiling_imp:

While if it was just trade with 1970’s Rhodesia or South Africa and before the commies destabilised the place by arming the natives to the teeth, then I might believe that it might just possibly work. But it’s going to take a bit more road building than a Trans Sahara Highway to do it.

Having said that a large part of my wages through the 70’s were made up of African exports.Although I’d bet the lesser relatively fewer ones sent to Chad and Somalia for example were paid for out of our own foreign aid budget unlike the loads of very expensive ones sent to South Africa.

Flew into Casablanca a few years ago to join a ship in Jorf Las Far and was picked up by the shipping companies representative in a nice posh Merc, the only problem was he was as ■■■■■■ as a ■■■■ and the ride was horrendous, Constantly blowing the hooter and all over the road, how the hell we made it safely I will never know …

It’s ironic that as UKIP supporter I’m closer to dd on all that than you being a so called For Britain supporter. :unamused: :open_mouth:

Try yoga or something.

When and where on earth did For Britain come into the discussion? and where have i or anyone else not on day release mentioned this group?

Blimey make your mind up.If I’ve read it right you seem to be saying elsewhere that UKIP is soft but all we’re realistically going to get but your heart is with EDL,BNP in that regard ?.So which part have I got wrong ?.

On that note as I said some, like me,would obviously associate ‘Brit Nationalist’ with looking up to the old WW2 generation indigenous corner shop keepers including not begrudging them a 5-6 pm closing time and closed all day Sunday.IE the definition of a civilised society as opposed to the desperate open all hours Delhi or Bombay type culture in which they have to stay open 24/7 because a Rupee is only worth so much to them.

I delivered a load of second hand furniture to an oldish warehouse in the South of France about year 2000-ish. The guy in charge took me and his workers to lunch. His business was buying second hand trucks vans fridges etc and going to sell them in Burkina Fasso. (Capital city sounds like an eighties pop song!). He had one good unit and low-loader which he round tripped, all other vehicles were old and were sold down there.
Filled vans with fridges, bicycles and furnture. Backed vans into trailers. Attach an old unit to front.
When he had four or five, plus a couple of old tractors on the low loader he’s be off.
Said maybe three or four runs a year? Other truck drivers go back on plane he goes back with his unit and trailer.
Daresay with wars in Mali and Western Sahara he stopped ages ago.
Interesting guy. Sounded an adventure for sure. Must have had a lot of contacts down there, and a hatred of boredom!

What has either Africa or Europe got that we can’t do for ourselves. Also why would we want to import agricultural produce for example from a region which supposedly can’t feed its own people. On that note can anyone remember Live Aid.

While exactly on what is the premise, that we supposedly can’t trade with Europe as a non EU country based anyway. When we traded with the place happily and ironically more advantageously, before we joined the EU.While the shop shelves and car dealers here are full of Oriental manufactured crap and have been since we joined the EU.

As for remainer May yeah right.Another project fear let’s show them how crap we can make Brexit in the hope that they’ll change their minds publicity stunt. For her information she might as well call the inevitable General Election stunt that she’s got planned now and hopefully she’ll then be kicked out and we’ll see if we can transfer as much of the leave vote as possible into a UKIP vote.Which will be the only way that we’ll ever leave the EU. :unamused:

Africa is not a country.

Wheel Nut:
Africa is not a country.

No, it’s a very naughty county.

I would guess at Africa being part of a Sub Continent. Its one of those places that wanted the White Man out, they got their wish and created a zb hole . Now they want to trade with us.

i know folk that came back from there with the story of…they shoot, burn, force the white guy off of the farm and give it to the blacks.
the farm would have all sorts of grain, feed ect as it would have been in full working order until the owner had to leave.
the blacks move in and get told to make good use of it as its theirs for to make a future living from and in the majority of cases, they just pick the bones of it clean over the 1st year without any forward planning, then by the time next year comes round, theres no crops growing or whatever so it just gets left as a deserted desolate shell, and they move on back to being the useless scavengers they were the year before.
so whats the point of aid trade or assistance when 99% of it goes into someones back pocket anyway and the remainder are mostly just illiterate retards.

Maybe the ‘white’ farmers should try telling the natives that the colour of their skin shouldn’t matter and that they are just as African as them because they were born there. That’ll work.

A bit like the Arabs flogging us the oil at a punitive price that we got out of the ground in the desert for them.

We should keep the 4 billion and let the Chinese strip the place instead.
