Would this be enough to power a microwave 700w with power output 1200w is what it says on the back. would this also handle a kettle or is a kettle too much for it. dont mind using gas and a flask.
Would this be ok to use with the clips going out of door to the battery or would i be better cutting the clips of and wiring to the battery, if i did that what else would i need to do. My main reason for just using the clips is that i will be using 2 different units so need to swap my stuff easily.
Im gona say yes, no problem as the inverter has a continuous 800 watt output and a max of 2000 watt.
If you can use the microwave at the low 700 watt setting, all the better.
The 700w rating is the microwave energy rating, the power required will be 1200w. For this you need an inverter that will produce at least 1200w continuous, beware of those that quote “surge” or "peak"rating as this can only be achieved for 2 or 3 seconds to cope with the startup surge with some appliances. Most domestic mains kettles are 2000w to 3000w so don’t even think about plugging into an 800w output inverter.
Thanks for the quick replys. I did a inverter search on this site and it just confused me even more do you reckon it’ll be ok using the crocodile clips as like i said i will have to change units so need to take kit out. Just looking at the search results they was going on about hardwiring and extra fuses, just need to plug and go at night time will just stick to chillbox and gas for kettle, really just need this for cooking and tv/laptop in the evening.

Why don’t you keep this to your Inverter thread? I already told you about crocodile clips
you will not be able to run the microwave with that, you will need one with at least 1500w to run a microwave with a power output of 1200w and you will need it to connected directly to the batteries

Because i was asking about a specific product not general advice. also as said i searched about inverters and it got a bit confusing. Not everyone is good with electrics etc.
Would this product be ok left plugged in all the time to the ciggarette lighter.
Also if i used anderson plug with the other end cut off and connected to an inverter would this still need a fuse put in aswell also i assume the anderson lead plug would also act as the live and earth.
