Advice on scania cb radio install

Hi guys,

This is my first post so be gentle
Im joining the cb community at my work and im looking for info on how you guys have gone about installing them in scanias.

For example where to run the wiring from the antenna as i dont want to run it through the door seal, is there any rubber gromits which i could run it through into the cab? Where abouts have you positioned the cb unit and mic holder?

Ive ordered a hella plug so that i can just connect it to the 12v power point to save messing about with powering it up. Any info is appreciated.

easiest way to sort that out is to scrap the truck and get a decent one that doesn’t knacker your body up when you drive it, then fit the CB in that

Ive seen some scania boys with CB aerials in the following places on TOPLINE SCANIAS:-

  1. N/S at side of roof. There seems to be a special fitting kit you can get, something along the lines of this:-

If you look on the O/S of your truck, presuming its a topline, then you’ll see your radio aerial, well your CB aerial will go on the opposite side just like it.

  1. Or option 2 on a topline is have a magmount on the back of the lorry with a 90degree fixing so aerial is pointing up the way and ive seen the cable fed threw what look like little rubber holes, think theres 2 on the back of the cab.

SC, the only problem with the mount on the side of the topline section is that you can only have a smaller ariel, if you fit a larger one, it tends to lean backwards as you cannot tighten them up enough to keep them upright

Is this for the R series? I’ve got a mag mount aeriel on mine, I just ran the wire through the sunroof seal and above the roof lining to one of the cubby holes next to the tacho where I mounted the cb unit. I then ran the power wires across behind the glovebox, down behind the passenger side pillar trim and under the fusebox to the back of the Hella plug. I mounted the mic just above the cb unit so I can just reach up and unhook it when I’m using it.

Thanks for the replys, its a p series just a day cab the type with the storage room behind the seats.

My kit arrived today ive also ordered a hella plug to hook upto the end of the power lead for the cb and im thinking about mounting it on top of the engine cover on the little raised bit, makes it nice and easy to power it up using the 12v output on the dash. For the moment the the aerial lead is coming through the door seal and im gonna run it round the back off the passenger seat and along the side of the engine cover using plastic wiring holders with adhesive backing.

Just need to decide where on the dash to find space to mount the mic holder :unamused:

I have put the cb on the engine cover on my p series scania same as you. I have put the mic holder on the side of the cb. There should be screw holes on the side. saves having to drill the dash.
