Advice needed

I am doing quite a few jobs now that concern
me about parking and getting a fine or worse.
I asked who pays the fine if I was to receive one
and they told me I would have to pay it. I have
read up on parking in the highway code and to
follow that 100% I would be out of work as there
would be quite a few drops taken back.

What do you do in these situations as you see it
daily where trucks are blocking roads to unload.
Does your company pay the fine.

Most companies I’ve worked for,have said that if I incur a fine,then I pay it,so I reply if I am delivering for you,and incur a fine,due to a parking,then you pay it,or the delivery doesn’t get done.

I have to say, that a company that I used to work for in Huddersfield, who Rob also knows, used to have an agreement with the customer, that if we got to a delivery before the parking restriction kicked in,and we were able to prove it through tacho times, then they would pay it.

Ken.

Most places i’ve worked will pay (they expect a few of them) the fine no problems at all.

Tell them of the drops you have a problem delivering and say you cant deliver them when they want.

217: DO NOT park your vehicle or trailer on the road
where it would endanger, inconvenience or obstruct
pedestrians or other road users.

Is it true that you can get 3 points and £60 fine for
parking on the road blocking it causing an obstruction
to other road users as in places like hull and bradford
ect you see cars parked both sides of the road with a
truck parked in the middle blocking the road with
hazards on unloading/loading. I do these types of job
and from rule 217 above it looks like I am taking risk doing so.

I will have a word with them and tell them I cannot do
those drops if the customer cannot provide a legal safe
place to park.
