Sat in a DC in the queue. Started motor, batteries sounded real sluggish. Engine started. Lots of fan belt like squealing. Burning smell. Squealing noise stopped. Burning smell went. Now starts and runs OK but with amber ‘alternator warning’ on dash.
I am parked up away from home on a Friday night. Should I call of of hours number and ■■■■ someone off or just drive back via a trailer swap, in the morning?
Not sure how serious or not, this may be, so all advice welcome.

sounds like the altern ator bearing could have seized and collapsed, probability if truck aint charging before you get home the voltage in the batteries will be insufficient to operate your ecu computer resulting in you coming to a halt, so you probally aswell off gettingit checked now
Crawl on your back under the front of the truck, take a torch, look up between the radiator and the engine, you should be able to clearly see the fan belt, other than that, tilt the cab and look
Word of warning, if the fan belt has gone, it also affects the water pump and the whole cooling system, and the engine can over heat
