Advertised jobs

just looking at some jobs on indeed, one says 4 on 4 off hours are Monday to Friday, assuming it means 4 days in the week, another say’s HGV1 driver required, rate of pay is £22.50 per day,i can only assume that is hourly not per day,but then i’m not so sure with some employers from what I have seen on trucknet by other drivers when they put ads on here, don’t employers ever check their ads on these sites, after all they pay a lot to advertise.

I must look at jobs 5 times a day and some do have you scratching your head , I now make a mental note of any jobs that intrest me and just ask one of there drivers when I see one for the real score

Indeed is terrible for that. I’ve seen £28,000 per hour, and I’ve seen £10:50per annum. Just today!

No they don’t.

Back in pre-internet days, I was working as a consultant for JT Recruit in Derby; an advert was placed in the Derby Evening Telegraph for a night shunter down at Haulfast, now UPS Logistics.

Can’t remember if the ad was phoned in or faxed, but one way or another it got messed up and the actual advert,as it appeared in the paper, was for a “Night SHANNER”; we were fielding enquiries for a week from every flip-flop in Normanton who thought it was some kind of factory machine-minding job!

In defence of the employers, sometimes the correct wording gets lost in translation, but the smart ones check it out before it gets put up on the net or in the paper, there are penalties for misleading adverts and they are sometimes enforced.

Just to forestall any snide comments, non-specific agency ads along the lines of “20+ HGV drivers wanted” ARE legal, believe it or not.

I’ve seen trawls for gas Mini-Bulk Drivers stating “Class 2 (gasses) in tanks essential…packages advantageous”.

Aye, ■■■■■■■ righto!
