Hi FH12Volvo, I can give you info on ADR training schools, but could you please give your town/city and your preferred travelling distance?
(That’ll save me some typing  )

There are 9 classes of dangerous goods.
I’ve listed the names of them (with pictures of the labels) in my answer to Hutchie about half way down :arrow_right: THIS PAGE

I’d strongly suggest that you don’t do any reasearch yourself in advance of the course, because you won’t know which topics to cover or how deeply to study them. The provider that you eventually choose MUST give you some sort of textbook for you to use during the course.

You can give yourself a good head start by learning the names and numbers of the nine classes together with the colours of the labels. A knowledge of the danger signs in the top half of each of the labels will also stand you in good stead when it comes to the exams. Eg, a Class 3 label background is RED, then name of the class is “Flammable Liquids” and the danger sign is a flame.

The commonest option chosen by folks is Core, Packages and UN Classes 2,3,4,5,6,8 &9.
Classes 1 & 7 are (usually expensive) specialisms.
The separate tanker module is optional.

A read of the link provided by delboytwo might serve to frighten you off ADR, (Del’s heart is in the right place though  )
Please be assured that you WON’T have to learn ADR to the standard that I need to be at in order to answer the members’ questions.

I hope this helps.

Hi FH12Volvo, That all depends on the way that the provider has timetabled the course and exams.

There are several timetable options available to providers, so if you’re not comfortable taking the exams all in one go, it might pay you to ask several providers and choose the one that suits you best.

I’m not sure whether you’re considering taking the tanker module (1.5 days) but if so, you can leave that for a while if the course looks too daunting for you to take all in one go. The tanker module can then be added at a another time.

i did mine in march/april this yr found it quite easy tbh

jmd-training.co.uk/ this is who i went through

havein to take several exams on the last day is not as bad as it sounds as they are all multi choice you are given plenty of time to complete

if you do it take a pad of paper pen & make plenty notes

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I was considering doing this as a couple of class 2 ADR jobs have popped up on local job sites recently.

I only passed my class 2 back in April and have been working in a ■■■■ job since then. I don’t have the full money yet to do my class 1 but would people recommend saving up to do my class 1 first or do the ADR first?

I’m based in central scotland if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance.
