ADR Training

Has anyone taken their ADR test of late, as I would like to take it myself. I live in essex, so if anyone can recommend a good cheap training company, I would be grateful.

Steve

hgvsteve, renewed mine recently it cost £647 inc vat that was for all classes inc tankers, that included all your exams with city & guilds. i did it with a local company nr nottingham looked on net before i did it all roughly same price think nearest to you is at truckworld, thurrock.

That is exactly the reason why I didn’t renew mine.

I’ve held ADR for all the usual classes, in packages and tanks, since ADR appeared on the scene. Before that I had the Hazpack/Hazchem certs’. I even did the army’s own hazardous goods course, with explosives, before that.

Since leaving the army and renewing it myself a few times, I think I might have made £500 extra, due to holding it, in all that time.
I’m no longer prepared to pay for it myself. If a company needs me to have ADR, I’m more than happy to do the course again, they pay for the course. If they want me to drive around with a potential bomb strapped to my back, they pay me to take that risk.
The argument, which I’ve had bleated at me, that its only fertiliser, doesn’t wash either. If its “only” fertiliser, why does the driver have to be ADR trained before they can move it■■?

(BTY, that’s a rhetorical question :open_mouth:  )

If we need adr training to deliver fertilizer why does the farmer not need it to store and spread it.

just passed mine £251 all in 4 adr and £68 4 my tankers but that’s in birmingham, what a big difference in the price in the south.

I have had ADR and Hazpak since it was introduced. I did the DGSA exams and they have all runout.

I dont need to carry hazardous, I dont want to carry it. I can drive in France at 90kms and not have to worry about parking or controls.

Locally you can get the whole shebang from fresh for about £250, a renewal should be less.
If you add in say Monday to Thursday in a B&B and a bit of food as costing another £200 tops… Add Friday night at the B&B, a big night out to celebrate finishing the course and a tour of the North East on Saturday and STILL you won’t spend £647!
