ADR Tanker + HIAB

Hi all new here today I’ve had my class C for one year & my class C+E three months. I’ve got my ADR course booked doing class one to nine (ADR) does anybody know who will take me on as a newbie ADR (Petrol tanker). Also round by me I don’t know any companys who do HIAB licences/tickets anybody know. (Stourbridge) If anyone knows any good companys to work for in Stourbride area or Worcestershire area please let me know.

Thanks

For petrol tankers you will also need to get a Petroleum Driver Passport (PDP).

Correct, but only if you’re going to need access to a refinery, because you can’t access a refinery without a PDP.

For example, drivers who only ever load from a stock tank in their yard or a customer’s yard won’t normally need a PDP.

Do you know how much it costs to do the PDP?

No mate, I’ve avoided teaching it cos I’m busy enough.

What ADR licence do you have?

Once I know that I can ask somebody in the know.

Hi Dave, I don’t have my ADR yet, looking to do it in the next few months

Hi newboy23,

Thanks for the info.

I’d say that your best plan would be to enquire about whether the ADR provider also offers PDP when you book your ADR course.

:bulb: Not all ADR providers offer PDP, because not all tanker drivers need it.

As a piece of free advice, I’d suggest that you think about whether to take the ADR tanker module at all, especially if you’re a recent LGV test pass or you’re relatively young. If you’re either of those, my honest advice is that you might be wasting your money because normally you’d be very unlikely to be offered a job driving tankers.

Ball-park figure for ADR tanks and PDP is circa £200ish IN ADDITION to the price of your ‘normal’ ADR course, so it’s possibly worth some of your time to re-think your plans.

I’d quickly add that the normal ADR course (Core, Packs and seven UN Classes) would probably benefit you in that it can enhance your appeal to an employer if you already have an ADR card when you apply for certain jobs.

I wouldn’t want to contradict our omnipotent all knowing ADR expert, but I’ve done work that required the tanks module.
Admittedly I’m no spring chicken, but I’m still a relative Newbie and glad I did as I earnt a good wedge while that contract lasted.
It wasn’t fuel delivery though, it was sucking up all sorts of nasties, some I’d never even heard of! :open_mouth:

 You couldn’t contradict me, cos I’m very careful with my wording when I write about that subject.

:bulb: There are enough words like maybe/usually/probably to cover it. :grimacing: :grimacing:

Agreed Dave, you’re Probably, Mostly, Likely, and Almost always right! :grimacing:

Hi Dave
Just want to say thanks done my adr packages and tanks last year with Driver link in Wigan, great course. If don’t do the {pdp} courses, as you have to much on, can you recommend a good course provider in the northwest.
cheers Michael.

Hi Michael,

To answer your question about PDP, I believe that you can do that at either Transchem or Altrain.
