ADR required for load or not?

A while ago I did a load from UK to Germany of chemicals in 200kgs plastic drums. I was told by office that load was none hazardous, but on inspection I noticed the large orange labels with a black X on them that stated load was an irritant. The only references I could find on load were ZN 22 HEX-CEM (MA Z 22%). Was I right in carrying it?

yes, the orange label with a black x through it means it isn’t hazardous, but isn’t a nice thing either.
bleach and some other kitchen products have the same sign on them.

PENFOLD , first point on the paper work and

this includes your CMR FREIGHTNOTE; was

there any reference to HAZ-IMDG–ADR, did you have

a Danger note, or tremcards,if these items either

where not present or the CMR was not free from any remarks

which would have shown the load to be ADR-HAZ-IMDG

THEN YOU (?) should not be found liable ,WHEN handleing

over a load it is the responsibility of the loader to ,1,inform

the driver about the load, 2,check that the driver and vehicle

are legal ie ADR/HAZ CERITICATE/DRIVER ,PPE CORRECT

AND IN DATE; ADR/HAZ KIT for the truck complete.,

3, issue all the correct documents required for the transport

and ensure that the TREM-CARDS are correct, upto date

and in all the languages required , 4, also ensure that the

load is safely and securely in the vehicle before it leaves

the firms grounds,

A GOOD POINT HERE IF YOU ARE UNSURE

get your firm to give you a answer and make it

a written one,the reason for this as some one posted

on another post here some firms DO BREAK THE LAW

AND DELIBERETLY; IF caught with undecleared ADR/HAZ/IMDG

goods in the docks–shuttle this is a prison offence, plus a BAN

from useing the ferrys and shuttle,

Thanks for the answers you two, it has made my mind easier for next time.

Britpete - there was no specific mentioning of ADR requirements on the notes.
Btw, was talking to another driver about ADR, and he has just been on a refresher course for his ADR and he says that TREM cards are no more and are now called ‘Information In Writing Instructions’. :open_mouth:

some one does like makeing itdifficult here in germany

we call them UNFALL–MERKBLÄTTER;

Unfall merkblatter = accident instruction cards (if my German is upto scratch   )

SEHR GUT WELL DONE a correct translation,

Is it political correctness that has changed the words from TR - EM cards to Instructions in Writing.

Transport Emergency cards do exactly the same thing, they give instructions in writing in the language of the country that you are transiting.

Unfall Merkblatter = Accident Emergency Instruction = Tremcards

ZN 22 HEX-CEM it’s an anti wear / rust inhibitor agent that contains 22% Zinc. i think it’s used in making grease.

ur not wrong brit pete, but they r now called “schriftliche Weisungen” , just 2 make it more difficuilt !

YES they have done it here as well it seems, but sorry

ask any one over here and 99% the same as in the

UK will say either TREM-CARD or UNFALL-MERK-BLATTER

EVEN IF THE RULES HERE SAY the OPPOSITE

I know that, I belong to the 99%. just wanted to let the others know, in case they come across it & dont know what it means.

Who r u working for in Dortmund brit pete ?, we’ve probably drove past each other quite often.

YOU haved got a PM Sandokhan.

brit pete:

Sorry brit pete, as u see i’m new on here. PM ?, not quite with u.

no my fault it means a private message

If I remember my ADR course correctly it is probably due to the fact that you do not have to carry a TREM card - that is just a product of one particular company. Regs say that you have to carry “Instructions in Writing” so you could carry any other companies version of a TREM card or even one made inhouse by the carrier in question.

G

Gazzaerth, where ever you loaded had to supply a trem-card

with all the details required from A–Z if you was carrying old

cards these had to be put into a folder which was marked

OLD/NOT IN USE–TREMCARDS in my case in german,

we did this because we carry the same product but load at

differant firms all over EUROPE ,we changed the cards

say once a month just to ensure that they staid upto

date., and they did have to follow THE LAID DOWN

rules for ADR-HAZ- PAPERWORK:
