ADR placard requirement?

Hey up peeps,

Can someone answer a question?
2000 ltr fixed tank with pump Un1202 what are the requirements to display placards, do we need to show EAC ?

Thanks

As long as it’s a tank, and not a 2000ltr IBC:

Within the UK, three Hazchem panels, both sides and rear, displaying class 3 placards, UN number 1202 and EAC code 3Y (most probably three environmentally hazardous substance markings too). Plain orange coloured plate at the front of the vehicle. Different if it came in from/on its way to Europe under ADR rules.

If it’s an IBC, two class 3 labels (and probably environmentally hazardous again too), and the UN number, UN1202 on two opposite sides of the IBC. Plain orange plates front and rear of the vehicle.

In addition to what khdgsa has written, you’ll know which is which if you look at the metal plate.

A tank has an ADR tank code (foru letters beginning with an ‘L’,) whereas an IBC will have the letters ‘UN’ in a circle as well as a longish alphanumeric code beginning with 31, then a capital letter followed by a /Y or /Z.

Sorry for the late reply, thanks for the information chaps, I wasn’t too sure. The tank is bolted down to the flatbed with drop sides.

Hi lennox1,

The answer to you OP question depends on what’s on the plate I mentioned in my last answer.

Whether (or not) it’s bolted down doesn’t actually make any difference.
