ADR pay?

How much do you take home doing ADR work? How long did it take you to get there?

About 5 litres a day and took me about 45 mins to get home.

Not worth the hassle. Too many glory boys and yes men with tickets now so at best maybe £1/hr more, more likely somewhere between 50p-£1/hr.

Not enough to get too excited about, though we are on approx £2 higher hourly rate than alot of the local companies.

The last firm did not pay any extra for my ADR that i paid for,now i get £5 per week, whether its an ADR load or not.

the only ADR work worth doing are the specialist ones bang or radio actives. tankers with acids or fuel too risky. onlly drawback with either class you must be amiable enough to double man the truck sometimes for weeks at a time, what seems insignificant now might drive you to kill after a fortnight. you will definatley see more of your mate than your wife and while you are away every thing backs up at home. you will need to like crap food as the only boats you will get on are freighters and you might be the only two on it and if the crew are philipinos you eat what they eat. most journeys are routed stray and you pay big time so throw your sat nav overboard on 1st trip. you will hang about at docks like felixstowe for days with no idea whats going on as the container will not be on the computer and the only answer you will get from the office at the docks will be phone your agent who wont know any more than you. some employers pay by the hour some are salaried they both have pluses and minuses. i perfered salery. if you are good at the job you may well find you are first out of the yard and last back which will also wind you up. having said all this it is the best job i have had i have been all over europe (exept portugal) and seen some wonderfull places. you will very seldom go into towns or citys so as far as traffic goes its an easy life.

And laws and regs that make you go on the toll roads and dual carriegeways all over europe with adr loads. Some tunnels, you are not allowed to use, there are two in the Chambery area on the way to Italy.Weekend restrictions for that,as the fire brigade are not full time in most of europe, except the big cities.
If you have an accident in a rural area, and the fire station is 30 miles away, they may let the truck burn out on it`s own.
