ADR kit

Just got my ADR licence through now need a ADR kit for the truck.
Can anyone recommend somewhere to get the full truck kit to be compliant.

RHA shop, Arsco do em as well IIRC…

These may be able to help. Not used them myself but they have them on their website.

We get ours from Arco, they don’t have a specific kit but will make one up for you including a kit bag to hold it all.

Might be an idea to take the opportunity here to list what is required.
No doubt DieselDave will be along presently to assist.

Wheel chock, two self-standing warning signs, fire extinguishers, hi-viz vest, eyewash, gloves, goggles, torch… am sure I must have forgotten something!

Can I assume that we’re listing the equipment needed for a vehicle of >7.5t ?

Fire extinguishers.
Fire-extinguisher compliance rules:

  • Extinguishers must be of an approved type ie. the Kite Mark or the CE mark.
  • Extinguishers must be periodically inspected (annually in the UK) and bear a label / sticker showing the next due date of inspection, or the maximum period of use.
  • Extinguishers must be fitted with a seal AND pin.
  • Extinguishers must be protected from the effects of the weather.
  • Extinguishers must be easily accessible.

The seal must pass through the pin to show that the pin hasn’t been withdrawn.

An “in scope” vehicle will need a minimum of 1 X 2kg dry powder fire extinguisher:

AND
1 X 10kg fire extinguisher to make a total minimum of 12kgs

Therefore, a minimum of two fire extinguishers will be needed per vehicle.

:bulb: It might be an idea to see whether 1 X 2kg + 2 X 6kg extinguishers works out any cheaper.

An “in scope” vehicle will need the following equipment on board as a minimum:

  • a suitable wheel chock

  • two self-standing warning signs (These can be cones, triangles or amber flashing lights etc.)

  • eye rinsing liquid (eye-wash.) [Not required for Classes 1 and 2]

Additional compulsory equipment for the carriage of UN Classes 3, 4.1, 4.3, 8 &9
(per vehicle)

  • a shovel
  • a drain seal
  • a collecting container

Each person on board an “in scope” vehicle must have:

  • a warning vest ( = Hi-Viz)

  • a pair of protective gloves

  • eye protection (e.g. protective goggles.)

  • portable lighting apparatus ( = a torch) *

  • For most ADR work, the torch can be of an ‘ordinary’ (cheap) type.
:bulb: An intrinsically safe torch is required by ADR if the vehicle is carrying Classes 2.1 or 3 and the driver needs light to enter the load compartment.

  • An emergency escape mask *

  • For example an emergency escape mask with a combined gas/dust filter of the A1B1E1K1-P1 or A2B2E2K2-P2 type which is similar to that described in the EN 141 standard.

The emergency escape mask is required by ADR for each person on board a vehicle when the vehicle is carrying Classes 2.3 or 6.1, INCLUDING when 6.1 is a secondary hazard or carried as part of a mixed load.

The above equipment should be considered as the minimum requirement.

:bulb: A spillage kit may be carried, but is not a legal requirement.
:bulb: It might be an idea to check for any extra PPE requirements (Eg, hard-hat) under site rules when accessing customer sites.
