tipton Taliban :grimacing: but they won’t fight in Afghanistan :sunglasses:

Hello folks.

Been doing my ADR all week and over the weekend I’ve got Explosives and Radioactives left to do.

Can anyone tell me how many questions there are in each of the exams. Are there any online guides or sites to visit so I can do a little preparation.

Thanks in advance.

Blimey!!
I believe those are very intense and very expensive courses

A member on here called dieseldave is an ADR instructor and DGSA so I’ll bet he will comment soon

Hi mate,

There are twenty questions in each exam, and you’ll need to score 14 in each exam to gain a pass.

There’s no info generally available on the Internet, and I really wouldn’t recommend that you try to find any either. If you do happen to find some info, you will have no idea whether the info is current, or whether it’s OTT for what you need.

My best tip is to listen to the lessons, then the exam is straightforward because the lessons are required to cover all possible exam questions.

:bulb: Dave’s ADR exam tips.

Attempt each question 1-20 in the order they’re written on the question paper, and put the answers for the ones you know (straight away) onto the answer sheet. Then count the gaps…

If you’ve only got a couple or three gaps, you’ve very probably already passed and then you don’t need to sit there winding yourself up about the other questions. Simply pin the tail on the donkey and then head for the brew room.

With either of the exams that you’re taking, you only need to worry if you’ve got more than 6 gaps on either answer sheet.

All ADR exams are marked on a pass/fail basis, so for what you’re doing, imagine that you’ve got 20 shots at a target, but you only need to hit it 14 times. You will never know your score, so there’s no need to waste any brain cells worrying about it.

Good luck mate!!

Can I ask the reasoning behind doing Class 1 & 7?

Are you “in the job” so to speak, or just after an advantage with the agencies?

Good Luck anyway.

Dieseldave thanks for getting back to me.
Your advice is much appreciated.

Wheelnut: I’ve been in the job driving a buggy for just over 3 yrs. I’m contracted to an oil company on a permanent basis up here in Aberdeen. My employer asked if I’d go through my Class 2 and full ADR because the oil company I’m contracted out to requested it. Got the lot paid for me so who am I to complain :grimacing:

Passed my Class 2 Last week and get my brand new motor on Monday

If you are going through with DGM you will find that everything is very well explained, put it like this if I can pass em anyone can

Nearly everyone that goes through an ADR course in Aberdeen does both classes Rog, the nature of the work up here means that you have to be able to carry anything and everything at the drop of a hat.

for example this week alone i have had 3 loads of explosives and this morning I had a radioactive box on, but I might not carry anything hazardous for the rest of the year.

Thanks for the reply, maybe if you had a location in your profile it would have clicked with me, enjoy the exams.

That was really my point, as most companies who require explosives and radioactive will pay for it
