 Sorry about that ravanoli, I’ve been without the internet whilst teaching in deepest Essex this week. My advice would have been to listen carefully, make notes, and immediately question any inconsistencies between your handouts and the info on the slides.

Did you get any exam questions that weren’t covered by the course materials??

Dave, have there been any changes to the structure of the course or the exams since The SQA took over from C&G?
Did my course and exams 2 months before the handover.

Hi gsm31, there haven’t been any big changes since SQA took over. They now trust you to use a pen for the exams, whereas City & Guilds made you use a pencil. The course admin paperwork is slightly different. City & Guilds joining form “CAND\A” has been replaced by SQA’s form “ADR1.” I ran a course on the very day of the changeover, and nobody, including me, had a clue :open_mouth:

The actual structure of the course hasn’t changed, but yet more stuff has been shoehorned into the syllabus, but with no increase in tuition time. It just means that the instructor has to deliver slightly quicker in order to make everything fit the time allowed. The newest part is a requirement to cover “behaviour in tunnels,” which is achieved by watching a film. I saw that you did your course just before the changeover, so the only thing that’s different now is the new stuff (not much of importance) that has come out in the latest 2007 British Regs.

I’m in Cheshire, so I’ve no idea, but scanny77 might be able to help.
There are a fair number of Scots on here, so I don’t think you’ll wait too long for some good tips
One tip I’d offer you is to try a post in the PDF, because more folks seem to visit that one.

Dave, who do you work for?

I used to be an ADR Instructor with Chemfreight in Runcorn about 10+ years ago.

You have a PM

Hi folks!

For anyone who is doing the ADR:

unece.org/trans/danger/publi … entsE.html

…this link takes you directly to the official UNECE (United Nations Economic Commision for Europe) page. In other words; they are the desk-job nutters who think up all the rules in the first place.

To quote them: “From this page it is possible to view and download the full text of the ADR 2007, applicable as from 1 January 2007”.

I did my ADR a few years ago, and like anyone else who has been through it, I can attest that the week’s course is MINDBLOWING. There is so much information blasted at you that you feel as though your brain will explode.

If you read through the regs before you go on the course, on the other hand, then it could change the week into a complete breeze, as you sit there with a smug grin on your face, while you nonchalantly sip your coffee and leaf through your favourite truckers’ magazine!

All the best!
