ADR Edinburgh

Hi I’m wondering if anyone knows of a company that does ADR training in Edinburgh.
I’ve been recommended a company down near granton but I cannot find them online, a company called “simmonds” or something they do a lot of different types of training.

A google search just brings up the usual Ritchie’s etc and been told to stay away from them…

Cheers

Don’t know of any Edinburgh firm that does adr training but I do know Ritchies is good.

 may i asked what you were told about ritches as i was looking to book another cohrse through them

Hi Ryy86,

I’ve had a look at the list of approved ADR training providers, but the name “Simmonds” doesn’t appear to be on the list.
That might not mean very much, because they might sub out their work to a provider who is on the list. There’s nothing wrong with that, but you’d probably get your course a bit cheaper if you go directly to an approved provider and book it yourself.

I think it’s possible that you’re listening to (or believing) bad advice, because Ritchies is a very respected ADR provider of long standing.

You seem to be asking for info on a company who doesn’t appear to be an approved provider, but you also seem to have excluded the very company who is probably your best bet. Strange!!

If you need some contact details for approved ADR providers within a reasonable travelling distance of Edinburgh, please just post it up and I’ll do my best.

I think he’s on about Sibbalds training. They are a big training company but I don’t think they do ADR.

With regards to Ritchie’s, they are without doubt probably the first and only place I would consider going to for training if I was paying for it myself.

GTG have a place in Edinburgh. I done my ADR with them in Glasgow and found them good. My company paid for this hence why it wasn’t Ritchie’s I went to.

Hi damoq,

Thanks for the help

Sibblald’s do offer an impressive list of courses, which includes a number of DCPC courses, but as you’ve said, they don’t appear to offer ADR.

Agreed. It’s that simple.

GTG are another well respected provider.

I did my ADR with Ritchie’s last year and found it very worthwhile, as they were online tests as well, we knew by lunchtime if we had passed or not.

It’s a Yes from me.

Thank you for replies everyone, I spoke with my old instructor and he said that he couldn’t recommend I go to Ritchie’s. He then mentioned a company down leith but I forgot the name of it (should have had a pen handy!)
Il probably get the wheels in motion for my ADR in January during the slow-down, don’t see the point in taking 1 week? Off while there is an abundance of work!

Can you recommend any literature for me to buy so I can start reading through it in advance?
Also I much prefer to do the training in or as near to Edinburgh as possible to save hotels in Glasgow away from my new-born and partner, Lagta are very close and I will contact them on Monday for a quote

Cheers

Hi Ryy86,

It completely escapes me as to why your “old instructor” couldn’t recommend Ritchies’, but it’s your choice as to whether you take that advice.

Agreed mate, make the most of what’s on offer, then when it goes a bit slack you can look at doing your course.

A few words to the wise…
If your chosen ADR provider runs paper based exams (most do,) it takes up to 5 weeks for your ADR card to come through.
Ritchies uses an online exam system, so your card would come through much quicker.

Ryy86:

I’d strongly advise that you don’t start reading stuff in advance, because you have no idea of how accurate it is, or at what depth to study it. The other thing that might happen is that you read something, then think you understand it, but the instructor then tells you that you’ve misunderstood it. It’s very hard work to __un__learn something!!

That’s perfectly understandable, but at least you now have some idea of the choices available to you.
:bulb: You could always ask Lagta whether they do online exams, then that might help you with your choice of provider.
