I was with adr network for 3 years on the nisa contract limited company and they charged me £30 per week for the privalige through essntual accounting I have since had a tax bill for paye to say I should not have been ltd co but I had my own accountant so they was taking the money for nothing how can I claim this back
You can’t get your money back. You agreed to the £30 charge, you signed a bit of paper agreeing to it. The fact you chose to have and pay your own accountant when they were doing it all anyway thus duplicating what they were doing is your own stupid fault. Quite why you did that I can’t work out. You would have got a tax bill anyway even if you’d not been paying them the £30 a week because your work did not qualify as true self employment which is why HMRC sent you a bill.
You’ve just been taught a £4680 lesson plus whatever your PAYE bill was in why your greed and not doing your homework can bite you in the arse. Hope you put plenty of money aside to pay the tax man. Also don’t forget to phone tax credits up if you were claiming them and tell them you under-reported your income for your claim for tax credits for the last three years because all your expenses claims have been disallowed so your income was actually what you got paid plus what you claimed as expenses, not what your accountant told you you earned. If you don’t and the tax man does you could find yourself in real crap. Given HMRC run tax credits there is no guarantee that tax credits won’t find out. That’ll be a big bill too but at least they might only reclaim it a couple of grand a year out of your future tax credits awards if you’re lucky.
It’s wrong that these parasites take money off drivers that can ill afford to pay - and then leave them wide open to getting their arses kicked by the taxman on top.
“Umbrella” was always a scam - but even when exposed, no one will ever go to jail for it other than the victims, should they try to evade the tax bills they all eventually get.
If we’re not careful in the western world - we’ll eventually all end up in zero hours contracts where we have to take our “employers” to court each and every week - just to get paid!
Unsecured amounts owed - are getting increasingly harder to collect “legally”.
If the “accountants” are ethnics as well - you can’t even go around there and threaten them, as they’ll just play the race card against you.
I got away from this outfit when they offered me a 12 hour contract without me being able to specify which days it was I wanted to work. The work was specified to be NISA Thurrock, Iceland Harlow, and Morrisons Sittingbourne. £8.00ph weekday days, £14.00ph sundays & bank holidays. I said “Sundays and bank holidays only please” which if I could have got - would have given me premium rate work each and EVERY sunday - to fulfil the 12 hour contract. “That’s not how it works” I was told. “I’ll just have to have PAYE instead then” said I. I went home, having signed up to PAYE only - and never heard from this bunch of crooks again. My only loss was the 3 hours I spent there, so I got off light I guess.
Parasite agencies as usual. Glad I’m not one of those career agency blokes. Can’t beat good t’s&c’s with permanent employment. In 15 years driving, I’ve only ever used them for emergencies between jobs, and that’s not been since 09. People shouldn’t take their crap
