ADR Course Coming Up

Thanks ROG I didn’t know that will defiantly ask that question.

ROG:
I believe there are some ADR Dcpc courses around that charge as little as an extra £75 for the 21 hours Dcpc which equates to £25 per 7 hours - not bad

That’s quite correct ROG.

:bulb: Several TNUK members have already benefited by gaining 21 DCPC hours for such a cheap additional price.

Hi BBM,

There’s a lot of helpful info in our FAQ forum.

I hope that helps.

It’s worthwhile doing it when unemployed ,otherwise you’ll find it difficult to find the time or inclination when you’re working.I ended up doing tanks and packs because the company I went with were experimenting with a new syllabus.Usually the first few days of a course are packs and then the tanks are added on the last day but on my course both elements were combined.I also did the “Common Characteristics” exams which kept the costs down.I went with Altrain ADR in Ellesmere Port and managed to get packs, tanks and 21 hours CPC for £299 last month.

I will have a good look around. I have found this website could you tell me if the top course would cover me for everything, for example if I wanted to do petrol tankers?

Hi BBM,

Yes mate, I had a look at the link and the top course would cover Core, Packs, Tanks and seven UN Classes.

I also noticed that by their pricing structure, it would be somewhat uneconomic to leave the tanker module for later. :open_mouth:

That is what I was thinking may aswell do it all if the price is right, like I said tankers have never really interested me suppose it is because I have heard that it is hard to get into but you never know what the future holds.

Some ADR DCPC providers are getting their tanker modules approved for 7 hours of Dcpc but they are few and far at the moment

Yes that’s quite right ROG, and others are getting JAUPT approvals quite soon.

I’ve already got my packages and tanks in all the main classes so I’ll have to make do with only getting 14 hrs worth on the radioactives and explosives.

If your refresher is due before 09/09/2014 or before your DQC expires (for those that passed LGV after 09/09/09) then consider doing the initial ADR again for 21 hours worth :bulb:

Hi SuperLez, I’m afraid that I have some bad news for you… :frowning:

There are no DCPC hours available for UN Classes 1 and/or 7, because they are both regarded as specialisms.

I got finished doing the basic packages done over three days Friday and sat and a half day Sunday with moch exam. all went well and was pretty involved but felt I learned a lot with a good teacher. have the tankers next weekend (1 and a half days)and then I set the exam date for a month down the line so I can do some revision in the meantime. Here in Ireland adr does not get added to your periodic cpc training at the moment hopefully it will in the future. I’ve really put all my eggs in one basket with this driving malarkey, hopefully it pays off and I get work doing something I love, being on the open road!!!

ADR does not automatically get to be worth 21 hours on the mainland as it is up to providers to get the courses JAUPT approved - I don’t think there is any legal difference in NI as it is part of the UK

ADR DCPC Approved in NI - I found this one  - worth a trip over the border ■■

FOUND THESE listed for EIRE - might be worth a call to see if they are approved for hours towards the Dcpc :bulb:

Attending a refresher course instead of a refresher makes perfect sense. As previous posts have mentioned most of the ADR can be counted towards Driver CPC. Just make sure the course provider has approved the ADR course as Driver CPC. You can also get the Tank ellement approved so in theory 28 hours can be attained in one week.

have a look at hgvlgvtraining.co.uk for ADR training providers and good luck!

:open_mouth: EH■■? could you just run that past me again please… :grimacing:

I can edit it once I know what you want to say.

I had a look and couldn’t see any mention of ADR, so do folks have to manually click each provider and go to separate websites to see whether ADR is on offer?
