Hi Matt,
Not many ADR providers put that info online because the ADR course is customisable to suit a company or person’s requirements.
As a very rough guide, you’re looking at £500-£600ish, but that’ll depend on whether you want DCPC hours and which modules of the ADR course you choose.
For instance, some people count a course including the tanker module as a “full” course, but some people choose not to take it.
If there’s no likelihood of you needing the tanker part of the course, then I’d suggest that you could save some money by giving it a miss. That would save you approx. £130ish and 1.5 days of your time plus the cost of one round trip to the provider.
Without a rough idea as to location and exactly which modules you’d like to take, nobody can really give you accurate info because the price for ADR courses can vary due to the amount of competition in the locality.
If you give a clue as to your approx location and the distance you’d be prepared to travel to a course each day, I’ll be able to give you contact details for suitable ADR providers.
As a rough guide, the average ADR course is usually run over either 3.5 days, or 5 days.

Great info Dave, thanks. I have contacted a local company for a quote, but knowing the rough ball park figure is very helpful. I’m in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, so I am willing to travel to Lincoln, Boston, Grantham etc.
I would be taking the course to improve my employment prospects, as I am currently an agency driver. With this in mind I was thinking the tanker part would be good to include as I intend to do my class 1 license next year. Also it wouldn’t be important for CPC hours as I only passed my CPC recently. Would you advise doing the tanker part for someone who wants to increase their employability?
Thanks

Hi Matt,
Thanks for the extra info.
I’m guessing that you already have Cat C and an initial DCPC including Mod #4■■
Your ADR course can (usually) count for 21 periodic DCPC hours, which will be credited to your next 5-year period, so I’d advise you to take that option since you’d already be in a classroom to learn ADR anyway. .
That’ll save you from ferreting around looking for some “tick box” courses in future, cos you’d then only have 14 more hours to find.
As for the tanker module, I’d advise you to have a searching think about whether you have any realistic chance of driving them first.
Please consider that tanker companies don’t usually take on newly qualified drivers, although there can be a (rare) lucky break on a home heating oil delivery firm. (They normally run Cat C fuel tankers too.)
I can give you some alternative providers in your area if you give me a distance that you’d be prepared to travel each day to the course, but if you’re already happy with the provider that you have in mind, then that’s fine.

Oh right, that’s good that it counts towards the next five year period, I didn’t know that. Thinking about it, you’re probably right about the tanker option; in all likelihood I wouldn’t be using it any time soon. Plus it would cost me less which is always good
The only provider I’ve approached is Denby’s in Lincoln, but I would travel anywhere in a 30 mile radius of Sleaford. Would greatly appreciate some alternatives. Thanks very much for your help Dave.

Hi Matt,
I’ve had a look within your radius, but unfortunately your part of the country isn’t a hotbed of ADR provider activity.
Apart from Denby’s here are some others:

I couldn’t give a recommendation because I’ve not had any dealings with any of the companies on the above list, apart from to say that they are all SQA approved ADR providers showing on the current list.
To avoid any nasty surprises, I’d advise you to cover the subject of VAT and whether your periodic DCPC hours are/aren’t included in any quoted price because not all providers take the time to explain it.
I’d like to wish you good luck on your course.
Dave… can u recommend something in birmingham as well please?
Thank you.

Please read my comments about VAT and DCPC above so that you’re making an informed choice and possibly saving yourself some money too.
Thanks Dave.
Did my ADR in May of this year & paid £480 included packages & tanks (Newcastle Upon Tyne).
Diesel Dave is spot on with his information.I took the tanker and packages for Adr.
I do not see many tanker jobs advertised apart from class C local drops on heating oil or red diesel to farms.
But these do not appear a lot.
I know it is too far for the OP but Friendberry training at Taunton Somerset offer residential courses.
They arrange hotel or bed and breakfast in the area.
There is a discount for being out of radius from the course venue.
Tanker drivers on artics do not leave their jobs due to being paid well.
Chemical and fuel tanker drivers can earn good money.
Down my way there is Ford Fuels Ltd and Tinknells Fuels Ltd.
If training in Somerset, make a holiday of it ,visiting Butlins at Minehead or Appledore in Devon at the weekend.
Friendberry use venues in Stogumber or Wivelescombe in Exmoor.

Hi Mark500,
That’s an excellent price mate, and it’s all because there are several providers all competing with each other in quite close proximity in the Newcastle Upon Tyne area.
Hi Dave,
Im in Cheshire not to far from you do you do the training ? Or recommend anyone local ish ?

Any recommedations for course providers within 20 miles of Aylesbury?
Also does anyone know of any good companies with ADR work in Aylesbury/Oxford/Hemel Hempstead/Milton Keynes areas?
Cheers

Hi nj1000,
If you’ll take some well meant advice… In order to potentially save £500ish, I’d have put those questions the other way around.
nj1000:
(Also) does anyone know of any good companies with ADR work in Aylesbury/Oxford/Hemel Hempstead/Milton Keynes areas?
…which I can’t personally answer, but hopefully there are some local folks on here who could advise you.
Once I’d got the answer to the above, I’d then ask this one…

Unfortunately, ADR providers in your chosen area are pretty thin on the ground.
