ADR class 1 and 7

I’ve got all the other classes except these, but planning on getting them just because I like to have all the numbers on my ticket!

I don’t even use my ADR ticket on this flat work and have no intention of looking for another job, but I just got round to wondering which firms actually do radioactives and explosives cos it’s pretty specialised work.

Also how much coin are these people on, cos it costs a fair whack to get your ADR ticket to start with, and there can’t be that many people into running about with explosives unless they have a fetish for suicide!

Barkers in Burscough, WH Bowkers in Bamber Bridge and Ainsworth and Martin in Penwortham all do Nuclear work.
I doubt very much that they will let a completely unknown driver wander in and try their hand but you can always try…

Hi tashlad666,
UN Classes 1 and 7 are one whole training day each, and the exams are 20 questions each.
Unless you’ve got something lined up, my honest advice is that you should save your money.

If you really wish to obtain those Classes on your ADR, I’d suggest that you check how much validity you have left on your current certificate, because obtaining these Classes WON’T extend your expiry date.
The expiry date of an ADR certificate goes from when you did your Core module, so maybe you should check whether you need an ADR refresher first?

The refresher criteria are:
Less than one year remaining, but not less than 5 weeks.
The unexpired portion of your old ADR certificate is added to your new certificate.

If you still wish to press ahead, and depending on your location, I might be able to point you towards a nearby ADR provider who is authorised for Classes 1 and 7.
(Not all ADR providers can offer those Classes.)

Only did my refresher 6 weeks back so plenty of scope left on it yet, quite happy doing what I’m doing at the minute, but in the current climate ya never know what could happen, and always helps to be one step ahead of the rest!

I did it with L&T training in Fitzwilliam, Wakefield.

Found these to be superb, had a kid called ‘Malc’, down to earth and a proper yorkshire kid so he was quite alright in my book.

He did mention that they do these courses, so may give him a bell and get some prices.

Cheers all.

Hi tashlad666,

Thanks for the extra info.
Now that you’ve said you’ve had a recent refresher and your previous provider is OK and does those Classes, I’d say you’re sorted.

BTW mate, the pass mark is 14/20, so you can get six questions wrong on each exam and you’ll still pass, but seven wrong in either exam is a fail.

Good luck!!
