ADR and CPC distance learning

Hi all

Just passed my Cat C yesterday.

Passed my car driving test in 1983 so I’m told that I need to do 35 hours of classroom based CPC.

My questions are
Can I do ADR as a distance learning course with anyone and will that count towards my CPC hours?
Can I do driver CPC as a distance learning course?

Cheers

No & NO

Both are attendance courses

Congrats Newbie VAN driver on passing Class VAN!

As for the distance learning, the answer in no!
I believe all CPC course counting toward the periodic CPC are classroom/attendance bases.

Sorry!

As for ADR, here is an overview of the course and the credits you can get from it…

Sorry mate, but both periodic DCPC and ADR are attendance courses, so I’m afraid that you need to be in an approved classroom and prove your identity to do either course. There are no home-study options for these two courses.

Now, that’s not the same for all courses though… the Operator CPC (as opposed to the driver CPC) has a home study option, but if you were to do that course in a classroom, some of the providers of Operator CPC have got their course registered for driver CPC.

Thanks for the replies and kind words…

As you passed your car driving test before 1997, you have two options to get your DQC (Driver Qualification Card):

a) mod 2 and mod 4

b) 35 hours CPC (usually 5 days of 7 hours each day)

If you had passed your car driving test after 1997, you would have to do mod 2 and mod 4. The 35 hours CPC option wouldn’t be open to you.

The benefit of taking the 35 hours CPC route, is that you can’t fail. You just have to attend the course.
