Have any of you guys come across a company based in Belfast called Adelaide Insurance Services? I got an e-mail from them in the lead up to my car insurance renewal stating that they give preferential rates to LGV/PCV drivers so I got a quote from them. £159.10 was the premium I was quoted for my one year old KIA Sportage 2.0 crd 4x4 with only £100 excess. This included keycover etc too so naturally I jumped at this price which beat my last insurer by £50 or so if you are looking to renew car insurance, give them a look up.
Yes I’m insured with them as well. Beat my previous insurance company by quite a bit.
Yes, I’m insured with them, first year they got my premium down from £600 to £300, this year charged £189 full comp on a Rover 75 diesel.
Create a Confused.com account, using log-in details you don’t use elsewhere, get quotes, phone Adelaide and give them your log-in details, they will look at your quotes and undercut the cheapest by a minimum of £10. They do specialise in HGV drivers, seeing them as less of a risk.

I couldn’t believe the difference with them, we have all heard the garbage ‘oh insure wae us we are the cheapest’ but then get hit wae a quote that would choke a horse but for once they actually walk the walk rather than talk the talk so to speak
Years ago I was with More Than, I was reasonably happy with them as I had been severely shafted by Norwich Union (scum of the earth!!!) when I changed my Volvo V70 2.5D Classic for a lower powered and lower insurance group Mercedes C200 CDI Avantgarde SE. called them to change my details, No Problem Mr Walker that will be £160 please!!! For what I said its a lower insurance group?? OH eh…Its newer so it is higher risk (It was 4yrs old so not exactly worth £20k!!!) Well years later I trade in a 4yr old Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI Titanium ( brilliant car ) for a brand spanking new £25k KIA Sportage KX3 2.0 CRD AWD and surprise surprise , my insurance dropped by £20!!! kinda blows More Than’s pathetic excuse away eh?? I insured with Adelaide this year, for me & my wife with £100 excess I paid £159.10 for my Sportage which I think was so cheap it was almost given to me,
Ps stay well clear of ONE CALL , my wife changed her Ford Fiesta for a Mazda MX5 and they wanted approx £75, of this £55 was an admin fee as they have ‘training & staff costs’ on a policy that had barely 2 months to run. I cancelled it and got her a new fully comp policy wae Tesco for £200 , best of it was they would have wanted another £55 when her private number plate went on to her car and their staff were cheeky pigs.

They guarantee to beat any genuine quote. This year when my renewal came through I waited for them to ring me to renew and said I would call them back after I’d checked out a few other sites, they dropped the price by a further £30 there and then so I renewed.
£300 fully comp for me and missus on a 3 litre veccy.

‘… Adelaide Insurance Services…’
Adelaide are the default insurance broker for the IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists) and also give discount for paid-up Institute members - although in fairness, the annual fee for that is circa £40 p/a, but at least it’s a charity
They initially quoted me at £370. I THEN told them I had an online quote for £232. They checked that and came back with a quote for £227 with substantially better cover. Good enough for me.
Been with them for a few years now, they have a link with the Institute of Advanced Motoring, thats how I got started with them.
Very competitive quotes, they actually phone mean at home near to when my renewal is due.
All documentation is done on line, just print it off
I saved a few quid with them also
I’m insured with them, beat any other quote on a comparison website by £20, even told them about having to go on a speed awareness course, as some insurers have been getting funny about them, but it still made no difference to the premium.
The real test will be the renewal cost, that’s when most insurers seem to load it up. Also has anybody had to deal with a claim through them?
Its strange how occupations can effect insurance quotes, I know several mechanics including my little brother who insurance premium goes up when they tell them their occupation, and if they tell them its Motorsport the premiums even higher.
Got an Alfa 156. Previously, I’ve been with Tesco Insurance for 6 years; they gave me a quote £76… Adelaide wants £34 only. (Monthly).

I got drove into by a black cab December last year.
Had to make a claim.
My car was written off Cat D.
They valued my car at a lower value than a replacement could be got, so I contacted them and they said ‘Send in 3 adverts showing higher prices and we’ll amend it’.
I did this, and they still only paid out what they originally said. Luckily for me it was only a Cat D so I bought it back and carried on driving it with the damage down the side. I still am
My renewal came in at less than last years insurance price, so the claim hasn’t pushed it up.
The payout on the car was around 500 quid lower than required to replace it with a similar age, condition and mileage car which ■■■■■■ me off.
I had to have some time off work with injuries sustained and also due to the lack of a car - courtesy car came days later.
I’ve still not been sorted for loss of earnings or personal injury - not even had the medical with them yet, although I was in the hospital for 2 days after the accident.
I know they’ve got to be careful of people swinging the lead, but surely arranging a medical over a year later isn’t any use?
So I have mixed feelings over their use in a claim, but I’m still with them because they’re cheapest for me and that’s what matters the most, not like we have many accidents is it?
The 1 above was actually caused by a 3rd party on a slip road off a ‘fly over’ (Mancunian Way) deciding he didn’t want to go down there after all, he swung across the chevrons, taxi saw him and swerved to avoid him, straight into the side of me nearly causing me off the bridge
Ive looked at these guys but because im not actually a driver anymore they wont cover me as I understand it. You have to be employed as an lgv/pcv driver which is a shame as obviously I can drive them but just dont anymore.
