Adblue in reserve

When I left yesterday I had half a tank of Adblue, now its showing as in reserve

Roughly how far will this get me? Ideally to save me a huge detour in the morning, there’s a garage en-route that I can use my bp fuel card at, but nearly 2 hours away.

Found a bp garage that’s only an hour away now and not too far off route…

What truck is it?
I can’t think of a single one I’ve driven that’d use half a tank in a day. I’d expect that to last at least a week, if not more.

Tank sizes vary, in a merc actros, the reserve would easily last 2 hours to get you to the garage your talking about.

Where are you that your 2 hours away from a bp garage??

Don’t worry too much about running out of AdBlue. It won’t do your truck any harm.

Does it go into limp mode if it runs out?? I’ve been told it does but have never run out, so not sure

Im in a merc artego 7.5 tonne, so prob small tank.

Im in lampeter at the moment, heading back to Warwickshire in the morning.

They go into a reduced engine power output mode on Euro 5. Its purely a deterrent to stop you running out though. It doesn’t harm your truck. Oh and you loose the automatic gears in a Merc if you run out. You need to use semi mode. Again, its a deterrent. Nothing else.

It might surprise you how big the tanks are on your motor, I know the 18t merc axor ad blue tanks are bigger than the merc actros tractor unit adblue tanks

renault premiums last 55 hrs “engine running time” on reserve until it goes into limp mode,

just ■■■■ in your ad blue tank mate :exclamation:

I was under the impression that it was an end of the world situation if you ran out? Maybe not, I can live with limp mode if its only for a short time.

you can relax as you get a 5 second warning before the exahaust manifold implodes because of the lack of adblue, causing thousands of shards of super heated metal to fly at 1,000 mph in every direction inbedding themselves in the first thing they find, god forbid that hapened while you drove past a school, think of the children :exclamation: :open_mouth:

Peeing in the tank will do just as good a job as ad blue

All the depots I have worked has made it difficult to fill up the adblue. Took half an hour to use the little watering can to fill a dad cf’s tank! Most other drivers leave it till it runs out and adds 2 litres per day run… it would be nice to have something better but its more likely that bosses would fly than that :frowning:

Is this really true I wonder…?

I reckon you should run out of adblue and pee in the tank and report back with how it goes

Think I’ll just take my chances on getting to Swansea services rather than peeing in the tank
