ad blue

turnbull2012:
What you need is an early 105 euro5 mine doesn’t use a drop of adblue and passed its mot as it is all it does is put a warning light on rev counter and still gives full power and is allowed into lez not that I want too

you have a pre nox sensor 105 …a euro 4 truck …pre nox sensors do not derate …you have the system but without the crap when it fails

Born Idle:
Somebody told me recently that Adblue is about 40% pig urine. I’m not having that, how on earth could they collect so much?..have they trained pigs to ■■■■ in a bucket or is there a guy running around on the mud all day sticking his bucket under every pig that starts to urinate?

lol it’s urea …no harm was done to any animal in the production of ad blue

They have a direct pipe from the Met HQ in Central London that goes directly to the source that makes the said stuff, they have other pipes from every other regional force running to the same place so my mate told me!!!

i dont know about daf’s so cant comment, but i do know hauliers local to me running scanias and volvos without ad blue after having an ad blue delete mod done without any issue
and money saving as well!

Adblue consumption varies on the type of work too. If you do long motorway runs it will users than lots of urban work as the the engine is running more efficiently

£300 on ebay, they use the same thing for export motors, but take the tank off as well

So do you get more MPG with an ad blue motor or is it just another expense?

You don’t get better fuel consumption, and yes it is an expense.

It converts nitrogen oxide, which is a pollutant, into nitrogen and water, both of which are harmless. Even though I have to bear the cost of AdBlue myself, I think it’s a price worth paying.

My 2011 Euro 5 430 Renault premium consumes 6% Adblue to Diesel. Renault can easily plugin and tell you exactly.

considering you have to have either EGR or SCR to achieve Euro 4 and above and SCR (adblue) consumes noticeably less fuel, I’d say it does improve fuel economy.

mixer driver too:

That seems a lot, I have a 2008 Euro 5 Renault Magnum 500 and it’s supposed to use 2% AdBlue to diesel but actually uses about 1.4%

probably because you are running high mileage on motorways etc. mine is a Concrete mixer. Uses a fair bit of diesel on the spot, loading discharging, washing down etc, with high revs. My mpg is 6.4 which is very good for a mixer, probably the best Ive heard of. My old Merc was 5.5 and Volvo FM7 was 4.8mpg
