Actros

Got a new merc actros (Hitlers revenge) with digital radio etc problem with radio (its crap) 1/jumps stations by itself.2/lots of interference sporadickly as though it needs suppresses think it could be digi tacho or transics sysem or even the tracker is there a universal suppressor that can be fitted.3/is Greatest hits radio RDS thanks for replies

RDS. If it displays any information other than frequency, then that is RDS (so it should autotune when you move between areas which is why I think you’re asking).

Jumping stations by itself will be the NEWS and/or TA (Traffic Announcemement) functions of RDS turned on. Those functions on your radio listen to stations in stored memories for a signal from those broadcasts that they’re going to be broadcasting the news or traffic reports and then switch to them and once the broadcasts of news or travel have finished then switches back again.

neither answers what i mean there seems to be no way to tune only auto search only picks up strongest signal traffic reports turned off as annoying

Absolutely. I suggest that you in future direct all of your questions to Mercedes Benz.

You’re welcome.

Suggest you google it next time. ■■■.

I hate the actros radio, the analogue one in my DAF was better. Some will search through all available stations and others won’t. Also as for changing station on its own…are you 100% sure your not changing unknowingly via the steering wheel. Some are so sensitive you can change station with eye movement alone, (well it literally takes the lightest of touch from a jumper sleeve to change stations)

What…ONLY the radio? :open_mouth:
You obviously ain’t driven one long enough.
Absolute abortions, the list of ‘crapness’ about them is endless, starting with a ride reminiscent of an 80s ERF.
I’ve had them now since 2013, and I’m now used to them, but in a similar way that you get ‘used’ to haemmeroids. :unamused:

So far, the DAF gave me back ache but I have no issue in the Merc, well I would like a wider footwell as I like putting my left leg out but can’t (could on the Volvo done my test in. Bed comfy enough on my only night out so far (just wished I was parked further back from the M25 ‘clacket lane’ as it was hard to sleep till very late)
As a passenger though there’s no legroom and I hate it. I may hate the actros if given something superior for a while.

The 26t rigid Actros was a way better ride than the tractor unit Actros I used to drive for my old firm
If I had a choice between my old Scania G 410 hi line and a giga space Actros 450 , I think you’d know which one I would pick my old Swede

IF the radio is affecting your ability to drive a Merc, leave it switched off, after all its not the radio that`s got to do the work

Must be at least 7 feet tall inside. Is it called a GigaSpace?

Must admit I’m one of the wierdos that have always got on with them lol Think the latest generation of the Actros is a big improvement both in terms of performance and the ride. Only drive fleet spec but decent ones and don’t sleep in them so can’t comment on that.
