Actros seats

Why, oh why are the seats in the Actros so effin uncomfortable?
For the life of me I cannot find a way to be comfortable for any length of time.
Are they designed to induce back ache to stop the driver falling asleep■■?

It’s beginning to annoy me.

It took me about 2 month to get used to mine, ■■■■ horrible things until you do.
I came off a DAF where I was able to lounge right back whilst driving (the way I like it) I got into the Merc and I felt like I was sat bolt upright too close to the wheel, nose just about touching the screen
(all I needed was an hi viz, earpiece, and hands gripping the wheel at 10 to 2 for dear life, and I would have looked like an agency driver  …joke btw.)

I make the best of it by jamming the backrest into the bunk, and all the air dumped out of the seat, to stop me sitting up in the sky.
It’s much harder now in the Merc to hide behind my peek a boos than the DAF.

I had a 10 yr old Scania Topline for 2 days last month, and I would gladly have swapped if it had not been so rough inside.

I suppose you know about the lumbar support buttons on the lower left of the back rest eh?

The rigid is the same as the sleeper cabs are the same as the artic

if you think the actros seat is bad you should try the one in the axor, its worse,
i had a new 63 plate axor, lasted 2 months, and asked boss to put me on a
60 plate man cos my back was killing me.

Join the club, our Volvos are being replaced with these Actros and most of out drivers are not keen on them at all, me included. The last of our Volvos go in October for some more rubbish Mercs.

Being brand new they are not quite as bad as the older ones we had on hire but still not good.

Took me months to find a position that was comfortable…cushion as far forward as it goes, whole seat pushed back so that the handles that do the forward/backwards adjustments are 1 notch forward of the actual base (bunk needs stowing away for this), all air dumped from both lumber areas and side bolsters and adjusted backrest so I can rest both arms on the armrests and comfortably hold the bottom of the steering wheel…sort of 5:35 position. I also have it set on its softest setting to compensate on the hard ride and the other button pushed down so it doesn’t bottom out…gives it a bit of ‘fore/aft’ movement. In this setting, my left hand can rest on left thigh and still hold the wheel…if hand is ‘squashed’, 1 press to lower the seat down a notch and it’s all groovy! This is with steering wheel right up and right back and I’m 6’ 1"

Glad this topics airing,i generally enjoy the actros experience but the posture controls I find tend to slowly subside during longer runs which seems strange and repeated complaints to merc dealership never seems to get results alas but suffering with spinal issues I find it grips the back extremely comfortably when it’s working well.
Heard a rumour we may be getting scanias next year which wouldn’t trouble me me but boy I would miss the mercs armrests which I think scanias ommit.Seems strange they do this.
