I have just started driving a brand new Actros.
On the radio display it keeps saying “Exterior Mute” and the radio doesn’t work with the lights on.
Any ideas?

Yeah get yourself a Volvo or Scania 
If you have a fitted phone or computer for sending jobs etc installed, it may be being muted by that and not un-muting for whatever reason its delicate little mind has for doing it.

That’s because it’s an English radio (Phillips,Bush) and it goes quite when it see’s German lights, thinks it’s the gesthpo on patrol looking for British agent’s…

Although that’s quite possible, we can’t be sure yet. If we can’t hear the radio, we don’t know what language it’s speaking do we?

The external mute message appears when the lane departure warning kicks in. If you’re getting that message in other situations I think there’s a fault.
No idea about the radio, except that the reception for mine is crap.

Try turning the lane departure warning off.

Yeah, I know. I was telling the OP in what situation the ‘external mute’ message should appear.
Ours show that when you have a door open so could be a fault in the door sensors. Do the interior lights mess about at all?
