Yet another sleep related accident…
I don’t see how a jail sentence is going to do anybody any good here .Is it really in the publics interest to jail him ?

Yes.
A. Otherwise, there would be anarchy
B. Because we cannot £afford the alternatives to prison.

There is that i suppose .If he new he had it at the time .It seems strange that it was used as a defence since if he knew he had it then he should have notified DVLA and had his licence suspended untill he got treatment

If your child was killed by a sleepy lorry driver, would you want him to go unpunished?
I witnessed this accident and the six hours that followed it. Mr Booth had just overtaken me when he impacted the Bhogal’s car. Despite being uninjured himself, he offered no assistance at the scene whatsoever. Several people were injured including a heavily pregnant woman. Mr Booth sat in his cab smoking a cigarette while members of the public, myself included, tried in vain to free Priyanka and her sister from the back of the crushed Zafira.
Despite driving full speed into a line of stationary cars, for over fourteen months Mr Booth refused to accept responsibility for Priyanka’s death. For over fourteen months he showed no remorse for the devastation he caused that night. That in itself deserves a prison sentence.
Imagine it was your little girl that was taken that night and ask yourself again if it’s in the public interest to jail him.
