Accident Reporting

If you have an accident with private or public property who would you normally inform?

Obviously you inform your employer but do drivers need to contact any third parties other than their car insurance companies?

I’ve heard of drivers running over traffic lights and railings which are obviously council property.

Hopefully I never run over a traffic light but in the event of such things would you need to contact the police, council etc or is everything done via your employer and insurance?

In the event of having a bump with another vehicle do HGV drivers have to contact the police as standard practice or are things sorted out via insurance companies?

It would be good for new drivers to know these things in the event of such things happening.

There is no difference between the obligations of an HGV driver and those of a private car driver about reporting accidents.

If it safe to do so an no one hurt i would ring the employer. Just dont try to hide it or ■■■■■■■■ them. As it could come back on you far worse. Be honest as accidents happen an they will sort it.

If your company name is on the side report it if not and nobody about keep going, at least thats what i did with traffic light in bath
