Climbing up from the Clifton Junction dip, (By Pilkington’s tiles), at mid day, just got to the junction with the M61 when I joined the queue. Thought it was something big as there was a lot of emergency services vehicles fighting through the traffic. It turns out a Dammac silo tanker appears to have run into the back of a Jack Richards motor right opposite Swinton church.
When I came past, the driver of the Dammac motor was still in the cab and the ambulance men were attending to him, he had an oxygen mask on, didn’t look good.
Cost me about 25 minutes in the queue, but by the time I got to the M6 it was on radio 2 and saying an air ambulance had been brought in and the queue was now back to the M62 at j18.
Take care out there!
Saw it myself when I was on my way back to the yard after tipping in Farnworth. They were just putting neck brace around him when I was going passed but he looked all limp to me, his arms were hanging down to the side and he looked distant.
It’s crap that section as you have 3 junctions more or less right on top of each other the M61 and A580 meet to join into the M60 then you have the M602/M62 merge just further down and it’s always a bottle neck with folk shooting into gaps at the last minute to get off and folk forcing theirselves onto the M60 without giving thought to those on the motorway.
It’s a mad bit, used to be called death valley for obvious reasons. Hope all ok.
