Accident M6 Thursday

I received some very bad news last night. One of our drivers was involved in an accident around junction one of the M6 on Thursday afternoon and is seriously injured. I am very worried about this man who I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for. We have no news yet as to what happened only that it was raining heavily and he has run into the back of something else. He is as I type still unconcious in Coventry hospital. He has a wife and three small children. Now this man is an excellent experienced driver and this has made me think very seriously about my job. I can only aspire to be as good a driver as Mick. I dont mind admitting that it has frightened me. I dont want to be another statistic. I value my life too much.
just remember when you are out there that this could be any one of us. There but for the grace of God…

Vanessa

I’m sure everyone on TruckNet will agree with me when I say that our thoughts are with him, his family and friends, and we wish a speedy and full recovery.

yeh, that goes for me too :frowning:

Likewise, best wishes and good luck for a full and quick recovery to Mick. As Nessa says ‘There but for the grace of God’!!!

nessa,i hope he pulls through and my thoughts are with him his family and friends.

Now this man is an excellent experienced driver and this has made me think very seriously about my job.

does this mean that you are seriously thinking about changing careers

if it does then please re-think as you clearly enjoy the job you are doing and it would be a shame for this industry to lose another good driver.i know that it is harder when it’s a workmate that is involved in the accident, and no matter how good a driver he is no one can predict another drivers actions that may have caused this accident.

please don’t be too hard on yourself over this,we see accidents every day on the roads some are fatal some are minor but we carry on with the job that we have grown to love.so please stay where you are and as you say you have alot of respect for your friend, would he want you to stop this job  good luck

Nessa, well you have made me a bit happier tonight, i passed it going North very soon after it had happened, maybe within two minutes, the cab looked like it had been through a shredder and i thought he was dead could see your mate still inside, but at the back of his trailer were some drivers just stood around either because they thought he was dead or just did not want to look, let us know how he does.

I hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.

As with Dafman I passed the scene as the recovery was in operation, and am glad that he is alive.

So sorry to hear about this Nessa my prayers and regards to you, his friends and family. This happened to a friend of mine when I was at parcel force and not far from where this inccident happened and I felt the way you are feeling now, you are in shock and it is only normal all we can do is wait and see how your friend does. Take care honey.

I can only repeat what others have said. Hope he makes a full and speedy recovery. Please let us know what happens.

Hope he pulls through Nessa.

Just goes to show that it doesn’t matter how good you are, you only need another road user to do something below par and this can happen to you.

I was sorry to read this post, best wishes to him and his family.

I would also like to add my best wishes to your colleague and the

family.

sorry to hear about your mate hope he makes a speedy recovery

Well good news. Mick came round on Sunday and asked if he had been in a coma since that zb ran into him? So it would seem that all his faculties are there  Good news at last. The broken bones will mend and the truck is only a lump of metal. Thank God  Three little girls still have their daddy. It could have been so different. Just take care for gods sake. i dont want the next one to be one of us :exclamation:

Give your friend, our best wishes for a speedy recovery and yes thats

right it is only a lump of metal ,where as you wrote he would have been

sorrliely missed by his family +friends, TAKE CARE ONE AND ALL

That’s great nessa  a different story to my mate thank god.

Brilliant

Wonderful news Nessa, give Mick my very best wishes for a speedy recovery and send my regards to his family.

Fatbob here, trucknet virgin and co worker of nessa the fabulous. Just to let everyone know that our mate Mick has been deemed well enough to be moved back up to God’s county and is currently residing in York district hospital.
Unfortunately he has lost the end of his right foot, but considering how comprehensive the rest of his injuries were he’s done rather well not to loose a awful lot more.
Having him local again is a real bonus as his good lady doesn’t drive and was spending too much time away from their young girls.
Don’t think he’ll be doing river dance anytime soon but he should be walking within six months.

Fatbob.
