Hi all. I need advice because tomorrow I have to give my answer.
I get my licenses (class 2 and 1) and CPC couple of months ago. No experience whatsoever.
So I was lucky enough to get my first test drive for a company today. Test drive went not too bad (with couple fs and shouting at me) But we get back at base uninjured.
So he give me a job offer for every second weekend. Saturday AND Sunday 12-14 hours working with about 10 hours driving each day. The problem is, I’m working other job (not driving) Monday - Friday 16.00-24.00. No starting or finishing time known jet. So I explained to him that, that will not go in with weekly rest period of at least 24 h for that week. He told me, that there is no point giving me just one day, insurance is to expencive. And if I’m worried about working time limits I better change my plans to drive professionally. I do understand, that he don’t give a sh about my other job, and he is right, who will? He’s most important thing is, that I’m in driving and brake limits just in those days when I’m driving. And that’s understandable.
If VOSA stops me while I’m driving, I’m f**t?
Sorry for long thread, but I’m not sure what to do? Maybe ask him for full-time job and quit my nondriving job at all (that I have in plan anyway later on)?
Sounds like a crap employer who’s desperate. (No disrespect to you pal!)
You’re right, he doesn’t give a crap about your other job, or rather he doesn’t give a crap about you!!! As it will be you that’s in the mire if/when stopped by VOSA, and you can bet your life that he will deny any knowledge that he knew you were working elsewhere, and as such breaking the law.
If it was me I’d let him call, and I’d let the phone ring, and ring, and ring…
Hi Rice I’m in a similar boat. I got some agency work and first few times they tried to hassle me to work days I couldn’t but now I’ve done a few Saturdays, I just msg them when I’m free and it seems to work. All the best.

Thanks for advice Evil. I’m not so desperate for work to risk my licence. And as I have heard, that company get stopped frequently.

Thanks for your advice. Maybe I have to try agency aswell? Then I could choose which days of work to accept. No commitment to anything…
