ABS Fault Diagnosis

Anyone here using diagnostic units for ABS faults? Thinking of getting a SensorMaster and wondering how others have found them or is there a better unit out there

Usually find the Trailer info module is good enough for most abs faults.Even the old Grau “number in the box” would find you 99% of any faults.Except for module re programming or total module failure dont see much point in some fancy box.

Handy piece of kit that you can make yourself is a final loom plug with a couple of meters of 7 core wire fastened to an ISO plug.Tells you if you got damage or high resistance/earth leak on the feed loom straight away.

I wouldn’t not have one on the van. There are a few different makes that effectively are the same thing. They are essential really to avoid faffing about with a multimeter and establishing everything on the exciter ring and sensor side is ok. Particularly good when the exciter teeth need cleaning or the sensor needs knocking closer to test results quickly.

Useful as well to introduce into inspections to prevent ABS defects before they’re getting to the point they’re putting a light on the dash.

Any particular make you’d recomend?
