Any advice on starting in the industry? i have the chance to buy an existing business but would appreciate any information

Welcome

Have a search because I’m sure there was a detailed thread about this in the main forum, although a few years ago.

Thanks
I will have a look.

To be honest, there are hundreds of us already - I wouldn’t bother.

The cowboys are about to be shot out of the industry with a government funded, official qualification being introduced at the start of next year.

A good bit of experience with heavy stuff is essential too!

Ask yourself why is it for sale

Thanks for the responses.
Shame they are negative, I am guessing all trades/industries are wary of newcomers and rightly so in some cases.
If its so bad why do you bother, not meant to be antagonistic but interested to find out why.

question for ya

how much experience do you have in the haulage industry ?

Not a great amount. I work mainly in agricultural contracting and plant, maximum load sizes are 3m width and 17m length(twin trailers).
I had envisaged taking a training course rather than just jumping in a van with lights flashing and hoping for the best.

Which if what I am led to believe is correct, the qualification has been written/set up by a KBR owned firm?

I have made contact with KBR re courses. thanks

Any existing courses will count for nowt once the qualification is brought in to place. You are wasting your money.

If you really want to do this, get some DRIVING experience and wait until the start of next year when the qualification comes into force.
