so, I’m hearing Abbey is taking Armet over, I bet there are a lot of chaps not happy about it.
Remember reading on here, some time ago people complaining about Abbey’s working terms and conditions and suggesting trying Armet as a better alternative in the same sector, food stuff tankers.
So, it looks like bad employer taking over a better one, as it is usually the case in haulage industry, and most likely Abbey conditions being imposed on Armet drivers in not to distant future.
I’ve been told when Abbey took British Sugar contract over from Suttons, they were not happy about drivers working on BS contract being on better money than their own drivers and Abbey planning to keep these BS drivers on their current rates for years to come, to allow their own drivers to get close to BS drivers rates.
Race to the bottom, as we are all accustomed when one haulage company takes over another one or wins a new contract.
Haven’t they always been very closely related companies anyway? I seem to think they were founded by two brothers, or father and son or something?
The Lucy brothers own both companies
From what I go told, they are brothers, but had a falling out so one left the original company (don’t know which one) and set up the other one. I drive past both now and again as they are right by where I live. Plenty of tanker work and adr down on that dock road but I don’t think it pays well

Which, if incorrect, could damage a company and might then leave somebody (and TN) open to being sued unless we take it down.
In this case it seems to be true because I was able to find a verifiable link, so this topic can stay:
