There’s a silver Ford Focus with front end damage at either Newport pagnell or Watford gap on the southbound side, that’s been there for a few weeks.
About 10 yrs ago there was an XR3 abandoned in a lay by on the 180 at Immingham, iI saw it nearly everyday, it looked in decent nick and had not moved for about 3 weeks.
I rang the local law up to see if I could take it away f.o.c. ,my mate had an old one in worse condition, and we planned to make one out of two.
They said something like they did not have the authority, but if I did just take it could be classed as theft.
It sat there for about 5 more days, eventually got stripped, then some ■■■■■■■ torched it, a complete waste.
obviously the police don’t give a ■■■■ so it would be handy if you own the same model and need spares,take a few spanners and so on with you,my dad and I used to do it a lot with abandoned cars,we towed an old triumph to a car park one day a few years ago and started stripping it,some guy walks up and starts moaning about people dumping cars there,turns out he got paid for looking after the car park,then he asks me if I see anything can I let him know I replied no problem,i nearly gave the game away with laughter, when I looked round and saw two eyes looking at me from below the triumphs wing,my dad hit the deck when he saw the old boy walking towards me and left me to talk to the bloke,my dad and I had a good laugh about it for a few years after

Fine? Haha 
if it’s ouwt like the s/b side then the ANPR cameras won’t work. I had 6 pallets of electrical stuff nicked from there and when the old bill finaly got in touch with our place they said they had no evidence of vehicle movements in and out of the services due to the fact the ANPR cameras were not working 
Maybe somebody fitted it with indicators, and nobody will go near it because it doesn’t look right.

Mechanic/truck driver in our village talked about this the other day, he said more & more cars are starting to be left abandoned in services and lay-bys due to the low price of scrap. He took an old Peugeot 206 to the local scrap yard just before Christmas and got £26 for it, he’s seen it happen before when scrap prices hit rock bottom.
Made me think after he’d said that, I do seem to spot more and more cars just abandoned in lay-bys now on A roads. That BMW on the A1 southbound just north of Peterborough sat there for ages earlier this year.
Abandoned motor vehicles can be removed by the old bill the same way the fire brigade get them moved.
It’s a possible torching hazard and rather waste precious emergency resources they have abandoned stuff lifted.

that allways gets me,i know its business but they give you £26 then store it for a couple of months while dismantling it,they can probably make about £500 or more in parts alone before they crush it,still as I said suppose that’s business,cant blame them
We did a few cargoes for some clever chap a few years ago during the previous slump in scrap prices when he bought thousands of tons then had it stored in Liverpool docks, laid there for a fair long time then it was shipped out to China when the prices shot up, but was hardly noticeable among all the other scrap which is Liverpool
theres an abandoned polish plate skoda felicia estate minus one wheel sat on the northbound carpark at knutsford thats been there for nearly a year
