Fixed that for ya
Shift pattern seems to depend on depot. Mostly those in the South on the 4/3
Well my speculative application for a summer contract has resulted in me being invited for interview next week. 4 on 3 off Friday - Monday. Fingers crossed.
Great. Best of luck with the interview.
Good luck with the interview and if you get the job, please, no beacons lit when you don’t need them

Don’t worry I’m not one of those “look at me!!! I’m important because I’m driving a recovery truck”
Well I went for the interview a couple of weeks ago and I thought it went well.
4 Days later I received an email saying I wasn’t successful
I then 3 days after that I had a phone call saying a position had become available and they would proceed with my application if I wanted
My references are being checked and I start my training in a couple of weeks!!!

Amen to that!
Big car transporter wag & drag with load of cars on driving on motorway, no flashing lights.
Behind it little beavertail recovery truck with one car on the back driving along bouncing orange light in all directions.
Only thing worse are the dustcarts racing back to base with the beacons still on…I can see why they need them when they are actually doing the street collections, but surely they should be switched off when they are going to/from base?
went for an interview last week 4 6 13 apparently you can earn very good money but the contract is only for six months and you know what normally when contracts come up for renewal, they normally dictate to you what they will change if necessary and if you dont agree the usual answer is theres the door if you dont like it, not saying they would do that but you never know

i used to work for sita as a driver and you are right some of our drivers used to put the beacons on as soon as they turned out the yard and drive about 2 or 3 miles before starting their round

I thought I was applying for the Summer plan but its a 6 month contract ongoing.
I went on for the summer plan 4/4 rolling shift. loved it. 4 months in had a blood clot causing a heart attack. yes car on the back and people in. I was passing the hospital drove straight in to the a&e about 11.30 am back in the ward job done by 16.30. people collected by taxi in 20 min and driven home, another depot collected the car and delivered it. one of the lads about to sign on at my depot came out in his car and took the truck back. and I was paid until the end of my contract. no complaints at all.
Hotel magnum crikey that must have been a bit of a day. Would you go back to it if you could?
well I had the chance the following year but turned it down over something silly and did regret it but that’s what happens some times. I had worked it out I could have lived on the six months money if I was careful. oh it works out to nearly 7 months actual working. it was a small depot and the permanent drivers were very good. But there is only me and the wife to look after and lucky enough to be mortgage free.
How long ago was it you worked for them?
started march 2010, could have gone back 2011 but had re joined my old full time job and did not want to let them down after taking me back.
My start date is confirmed as next Monday. I’m looking forward to the change.

Hey Mucker85
How’s the job going?
I have an interview this week, any tips you can offer me?
Also what are the shift patterns/ hours like.
Do you keep the same recovery truck at home or do you have to collect and drop off at a local depot.
Sorry for all the questions but better to here from the horses mouth as it were than the corporate chat I’ll get at interview.
Thanks for you help.
Dav
Oh
And what’s the MDT code for “BATTERY”
I’m sure you know why I’m asking for that.
Cheers
