One of the reasons firms are fitting dashcams filming foward and on the driver.
The main reason is smoking in the cab.

How the hell did The fishers driver survive that without life threatening injuries ■■ Just as well he works for a laundry company as I think he will be looking for some clean undercrackers ![zb] knows ? I had a shudder go down my spine when I passed it
Looks like 3663 had pulled in suddenly and fishers had no where to go and shunted 3663 in to B&M
just to put everyones mind atr rest, I was the driver of the bidvest truck!!!
me and b&m where both in the layby on our breaks, I had drawn my curtain to have 40 winks and was sitting on the bed when fishers hit me from behind, literally throwing me from the bed into my windscreen as I was pushed into b&m trailer… the scray part is that literally one minute earlier I was outside the truck changing my freezer to heat.
still no clue as to how he done it but I can only guess hes not known as there was no skidding or horn etc.
just clearing it up guys

It was quite obvious to most that yourself and B&M where in the layby and it was a layby strike, just a few Mr Mcgoos on here that are daft as brushes.
Good to know you’re ok if just a bit shaken up! Really could have been worse, middle truck in a 3 truck collison is usually the one that gets obliterated.

the thing that saved me from any damage or injury was the fact I was sitting on bed mate, my steering wheel, dash and pedals where all pushed back to drivers seat so id have took a sore one, just stiff now and a bit sore from hitting the windscreen but as you say, could have been a hell of a lot worse… makes me love scanias and hate dafs now that little bit more though haha

Glad to hear you are OK, I could image the potential for serious injury being thrown around the cab like that, presumably you hit the back of your cab first then catapulted into your own windscreen. It’s difficult to believe how vulnerable you can be with such a large mass of your own vehicle behind you, but we clearly are.
Out of interest how far forwards was you truck shunted.
I was sitting back already mate so never got thrown back as such just forward when it hit b&m… I should say the b&m was a Hayton coulthard motor. but the gap was pretty big, I had only been parked up a few minutes but there was a land rover discovery in between me and the b&m wagon that had moved off as I was drawing my curtain.
I spoke to a Duncan adams driver aswell who said fishers overtook him about 1/2 mile up the road and he reckons he was doing in excess of 50mph so fishers was going faster than him. Miracle the guy lived
“adokeefe” Glad your all right I went past north bound about 1 45 pm when all the fire etc where there and as I posted a shudder went down my spine when I saw the fishers truck good job you’re on bunk
cheers ‘blue estate’
just had to go collect my tacho card, the olde traffic cop was impressed with my 0 infingements haha. reckons he pulls at least one dodgy a day sometimes more if they’re working on an operation
surely its not difficult to stay within the law with drivers hours
Glad your ok Adokeefe, my work mate was one of the first to come on the scene and couldn’t believe the fischer driver spoke back when he shouted at the cab.

Im no tncsi but looking at that pic there is no way the steering wheel and pedals were pushed back, surely if you were in that truck you would have taken your own pictures and posted them on here instead of posting pics off a news website.
Looking at this pic from the same site shows no intrusion on the drivers side
And surely if u hit the windscreen there wud be some damage in the centre of it??
When you phoned the gaffer to say you’d been in an accident, did he ask if you’d got all the drops off and if not, could you exchange details and get on with it? Or have they got rid of that ‘book of lines to be used in case of…’ and actually ask how you are and not the truck/load? Glad everyone’s ok though, could’ve been a ■■■■ load worse

It wouldn’t surprise me from some of the managers at Newbridge!
“Boss, the truck’s upside down and on fire and I’m being stretchered into an ambulance”
“Yesh, but how many dropsh have you got left on?”
(He’ll probably know who I mean with that accent)
