There’s a special place in hell for the drivers who drive along at 49mph then flat out at the dual carriageways not allowing for overtaking. Thus leaving a queue of very frustrated trucks behind him.
rant over?
i believe that special place is already marked out as this space reserd for …UKNICKYDICKYJAKETHEROWLEYSNAKE101TRAMPECTECT .
no doubt they/he will be along shortly to explain how a proper professional trained driving god progresses along a main road carrying out their own version of a rolling roadblock ns to enlighten you to the error of your ways…

Sent from goodness knows where
Speed limit for truxks up there is 50 so no big deal doing 49.
Unless the average speed cameras can’t tell if your in a car or a truck.
Just stick to 49/ 50 and enjoy the scenery. Why rush

So your complaint is that they’re doing within 1MPH of the legal limit? What a ■■■■■■. And I bet you have the gall to think of yourself as a professional driver too as you’re sat there frothing at the mouth because someone is going to delay you at most a whole 3-4 minutes over the entire length of the A9.
… you’ve not worked out that by rushing around all you’re doing is diddling yourself out of wages by doing the job quicker. And that’s before we take into account any fines you could get.
One reason maybe why cars do 49 mph is because they don’t known the highway code or speed limits.
They see a sign hgv trial limit 50 mph.
And car driver most likely just sees the 50 mph sign and wrongly presumes it applies to them as well

Doubt he’ll be retiring early with all the money he’ll make hanging the job out for another 3 or 4 minutes.
I believe that the op wasn’t moaning about them doing 49mph in the 50mph single, rather the fact that they’ll happily boot it up to the limiter once they hit a section of D/C thus preventing lorries overtaking them. Personally rather than let it annoy me I’d pull into a layby, have a stretch of my legs and enjoy the stunning scenery, but we’re all thankfully different.

Where do you start? I’ve not got a problem with people doing 49mph all day just Let people pass at the Dual carriageways have some self awareness that you have a queue of frustrated drivers of trucks & cars behind you. The A9 is a bad enough road without frustrated drivers risking bad overtakes.

They haven’t increased the HGV speed limit on the dual carriageway bits have they? So it’s still 50mph?

DickyNick, I think the problem is some drivers will stick to 50 mph (or 49 mph whatever) on the single carriageway because of the average speed cameras. They obviously are not taking into account the tolerance. However, the same drivers may put the foot down on the dual carriageway sections. There is potential for getting stuck behind a transit van or something that is also subject to the 50 mph limit on the single carriageway, but can actually (legally) do 60 mph on the dual carriageway, although these sections are not covered by the average speed cameras.
edit: just remembered that the dual carriageway section south of Perth is covered by average speed cameras.
its always been a problem that on the a9, i’v seen some dodgy overtakes because of it, even seen an accident caused by it and both of the drivers in that accident ended up being fined for driving without due care and attention for that one.

dodgy■■?..pah!!!
if your talking dodgy, then we do it to music on the 75 where its a 40 limit.
for those that dont know the road, its an uphill section where the slowpokes in the inside lane will have been doing 56 before digging in for the climb…
click it and sing along now,itl put a smile on your face when you watch the road markings…

I love that video, elbows in coming thro, Whoooosh. That overtake reminds me of the days along A70–A71 coal trucks, overtaking on the CB,
well the cb overtakes are still quite common and generally as safe as houses.
most common coming off the boat heading south.
you can only imagine what the folk in that tiny wee red car heading up the hill were wondering, and what the comments from the oncoming car with the headlights up full were…
i imagine there were bigger skidmarks inside the car, than on the road.
