If the sign actually made any sense then they wouldn’t need a big red sign underneath it explaining it.

I wonder, if the (trial) limit is 50, rather than 40… when looking at enforcement, are they still using the ACPOS guidelines of 10% + 2… or… ?
hmmm
Just driven it today. Think it’s an improvement. Although if two trucks don’t leave space between them then someone kamikazimg will have to go that bit faster
After years of acclimatising to 40mph, I don’t want to feel as if I should be doing 50mph. Forty is a nice relaxing pace, everything feels less rushed, and I think society needs to learn a few lessons from this. But now the heroes will be a lot less forgiving to those who are doing 40 and it will justify their insistence for doing 56. I foresee lots of angry back-door-half-cabbing for anybody who dares to do 49.9mph or less.
I might compromise with the impatient, feeble minded, and crude public by raising my speed to 45.
Or perhaps not.

I know that, but try telling that to half the muppets piloting lorries these days. Anybody doing 40 in a couple of months will be ‘encouraged’ to speed up. And that type of pressure is uncomfortable for many.
Oh look a ■■■■■■■ fanny. 40? Ever driven up and down the a9?

The limit has been raised for a reason, to cut out driver frustration - but as long as your ok that’s the main thing plus of course you probably?? make more money the slower you go?
Ha ha, all the heroes are out in force I see!

If people learnt to recognise their frustration, then apply some reason and logic to it, they’d overcome it - it’s called maturity. I mean, call me what you will, but I view life from the mindset that it is a journey, and not a destination. And yet I still get home every night, I still get bundles of quality time, and I’ve loosened my shackles to the capitalist system. And as I’ve said numerous times in the past: I’m not responsible for other people’s state of mind - they have the choice to get wound up or not. Dealing with driver frustration by raising the speed limits is much like Slim-world upping the acceptable cake quota for 40-something housewives who are unable or unwilling to exercise will power.

Yes, the scenery is stunning, it’s a spiritual experience, and my life is far richer for absorbing it at a normal pace. Life takes on a whole new meaning when we slow down a little bit, and I feel so sorry for those who sacrifice that for the sake of appeasing their nervous systems. And why do I have this mindset? Because I’ve witnessed several people die an early miserable death from cancer and heart attacks - all of whom were aggressive, impatient, and stressed types of people - characteristics which contribute to such a fate I believe. Quite fitting really, seeing as they always shaved a few minutes off their journey time in life as well. No Jack, you’re not bullying me along. You’ll have to sit there choosing chronic suicide instead. But that’s your choice.
Driving at 50 gives you cancer? That’s a new one on me.
With the advent of the motor car in the dim and distant past it was mooted that humans travelling faster than a horse would suffocate. I’m significantly more worried about that than cancer. Maybe the Gov can investigate please?

No, but the negative emotional and physiological effects from the inability to drive at 40 may do - from the accumulation of stress, anxiety, and impatience.

So by your own logic you have the ability to ease the life stresses of others by increasing your speed up to the given limit.
