ajt:
As for overtaking, slightly hard when your not driving at the time
Ahhh I see…passing the buck!
So as you were being driven in a crap car by a crap driver, why should the truck in front jump out of their way, just because of their overall crapness behind the wheel?
ajt:
Moving over showing manors and courtesy costs nothing
Manors? Is that a stately manor?
As you mentioned courtesy…do you barge other people out of the way in other queues? Such as a queue at the supermarket, shops or even a pub? I bet you don’t.
What happens in the supermarket queue is i say ‘‘excuse me’’ and they usually say sorry and move to one side. Normal life situation eh
So let me get this straight…in a queue at the supermarket checkout, you say ‘excuse me’ and push past other people?
ajt:
I’m guessing as you don’t feel the need to move over, in the supermarket situation either, when someone asks you to move over you say ‘‘no, you will have to wait’’ ---- yeah right you do…
I don’t move over in a queue at the till…I just wait my turn like everyone else.
I won’t be bullied out of the way in a supermarket queue nor on the road.
And you still haven’t answered the question…why should I pull into a layby just because a crap driver in a crap car can’t overtake?
Jesus, you really are boring…
If someone in a shop, supermarket etc is blocking my path, like just about any other normal human, i say, ‘‘excuse me’’ or, ‘‘can i just squeeze past please’’ and they move to one side. Do these normal kind of actions come as a surprise to you?
As for why should you move over if your HOLDING UP A QUEUE. Is it not glaringly obvious?? You should move over out of common courtesy towards your fellow road user(s), to cut out the obvious frustrations of the drivers behind etc etc etc - but of course no one would expect you to move over as your clearly the sort of person who only thinks about number 1
Judgeing by the amount of drivers on here that condone speeding this forum should be named a truckers forum as professional drivers would not even consider exceeding speed limits.
It is about time people woke up and smelt the coffee the more you do the more is expected of you I have been there and done that it nearly cost me my licence.
The company I now work for preach’s safety 24/7 yet keep trying to cut job times and cut pay, if a company requires you to break the law make sure you get it in writing so they feel the force of the law as well as you !!

‘Professional drivers’ that do 36mph sorry 40mph should also rememeber that they should pull over when there is a large queue behind them like it says to in the highway code if you dont that makes you one of these ‘truckers’ who are unprofessional.

Now there’s a dilemma, should I continue to ignore the 40 limit on that road like I’ve done for over 20 years or should I stick to 40 and get my ‘professional’ badge.
Incidentally I’ve never come close to loosing my license so surely that makes me more professional than you.

Now here’s a dilema for you. If your truck only goes 54mph and the 57/60 mph guys are all up your arse in a queue, you still advocate pulling over do you?

It not to do with your speed just the size of the conga behind you

it’s not only about trucks. Smaller vehicles would like to overtake as well… And if the queue is too long, they have no chance.
Just remember the police on this road they do have at least 5 unmarked vehicles mainly Dumfries Stranera ( sp)
The marked are out all the time not just daylight hours with speed devices if caught depends how much over you are they will send to court
Not long ago I was on this stretch just a little over ( well 20 mile ) in a sprinter 01.15 did get 3 points & £100 fine although could have been a lot worse now only do 50 mph sorry
I got caught in Glencoe. First points in my life, very nice chat with the coppers, and generaly I could say that under that circumstances quite pleasant experience. It was night, road was empty and I was doing 75mph. They told me it’s 25 over limit (as for sprinters its 50, of which I wasn’t aware at the time) and that if I was doing 26 over the limit, they would send me to the court.
this is the only case when I was happy that I had speed limiter fitted (and set at 75)

You’re right, its not only all about trucks. Its only dopey drivers who keep going and never pull over. I’ve seen all the fast lads off the boat pulling over when someone quicker is behind them, like cars or quicker trucks. They all do it, eh?!!

I’'m going to keep repeating this for the benefit of the thickos…
If you want to be a hero, on you go…I’m not stopping you.
