I’m off the Girvan from Penrith. Looks like the A75 then A714 is the best route. Can any one tell me if the A714 is decent enough for a truck or am I better sticking to the coast road.
Cheers
I’ve used the A714 to Girvan in a 44t bitumen tanker, not the best road in the country but it will get you there, when you arrive at the roundabout on the A75 go straight over up the hill and turn right, it is signposted. Safe journey.
The better road would be A76 Dumfries to ■■■■■■■ A70 to Ayr then the A77 to Girvan thats the way the Ayrshire lad’s go. Eddie.
I use the A714 between Newton Stewart and Girvan a fair bit and to be honest it’s not the best road in the world for an artic but I’ve been on a lot worse. From Penrith to Girvan I use A75 and A714.
If you do, when you get to the roundabout at Newton Stewart go straight on towards Stranraer. About half a mile up the hill past the hospital there’s a right turn and it joins the A714 qt the top end of the town. Saves having to battle down the hight street.
