A702 closed after A721 DIVERSION QUERY

Hi, I see that the A702 , off M74, J13 Abington is closed nightly 8pm to 6am from 22 April to 2 May.
It says A702 closed, diversion is A721 and A72.
I go to Edinburgh couple times a week to drop a trailer and haven’t done this diversion. Have looked up Traffic Scotland etc but no actual diversion time is listed.
Has anyone done this and know where diversion takes you out and the driver time lost.
many thanks

Done that diversion a few times in a car,
Adds 15 mins and drops you into penicuk then onto a720 by the retail park.
Maybe add 30 mins in an arctic if your used to the roads.
The turn aint the best on to the a72.
At least the roads getting resurfaced ands a bit better if the stretch by biggar is anything to go by.

Just use the beef tub road. It’s as quick if you’re not too heavy. Or use M8.

Hi, thanks very much for getting back to me.
Was wondering if i would need to double break it or if it was the diversion from hell, leaving me no driving time and in need of rescue.
Sounds as if 30-40 mins plus is indeed ok dokey…thanks Bertiebus

As for beef tub road !!! loved this as the key phrase was “as long as your not too heavy”… sounded like i was about to hoof it over fields with fencing and gates trailing in my midst  …(its always an option) thanks Happysack

It seems i don’t have to turn religious on this detour… it seems.
Thanks again

Beeftubs is an okish road. If your up for the drive.

My wife hates it as she normally voms on it! :open_mouth:

If you miss the turn southbound you will be on the beeftubs road.
Just watch out as its the start of the lowland haggis breeding season, and they are mighty busy :unamused:
