I
It was at haltwhistle the roundabout where the industrial estate is, going back across at 16:30 and a wrecker was towing it westbound the cab is a right mess, road was still closed diversion in place .
Lets hope the driver is ok - everything else can be fixed or replaced .
He was fine , 67 yr old, said he didnt remember what happened
That’s good news, if I was him I would buy a lottery ticket for tonight He’s a lucky man. I went past again this morning, looking at the tyre marks on the road it looks for some reason he’s gone the wrong side of the roundabout and straight on into the field.
Believe me I’m not saying that’s what happened I just thought that maybe he lost his brakes and went to the right to avoid running into the roundabout.
The main thing is he’s fine that’s good news.
Yeah he did go via the wrong side of the roundabout as I passed it just before they were starting the recovery.
Brick load only came from a few miles up the road as well.
Glad he’s OK. Good old volvos again. Best truck to be in in a accident
I was looking for a news story in connection with the original post, and came across the following, obviously this is a different incident, but this wasn’t far away on the A69
in the newspaper article it suggests that the incident was early March and the police are still looking into it - since it is clearly outwith the 14 day NIPs period, could the police do anything now even if they wanted?

Stood up pretty well really
Hate approaching that roundabout with a full load of brick on, the approach is a deceptively steep downhill, really easy to build up speed if you’re not keeping an eye on it. I’m normally on the retarder from about a half mile back from it to hold speed back, then gradually increasing the retarder to get the speed down & avoid having to brake hard for the R/A. Not sure I’d have intentionally went to the right of the R/A though, you can’t always see if anyone is coming around it from the other side, especially cars. Easy to say with hindsight, I guess.

Yes if the police cannot identify the vehicle having applies due diligence. Having issued the NIP then they have up to six months to decide whether to prosecute or not
