Its going to be a long day for some -
Kettle on, coffee on, night heater on, …maybe even grab a few z.s ,.safe in the knowledge I’ve got a full fridge if it’s an all nighter…and wait until clear on an hourly rate of pay and make it a 15 on my tacho.
No stress from my pov.
(note …All the above not applicable to me this time, as not back in until wednesday. )
Go over it regularly like that on night trunks. The only reason it’s closed is because of drivers panicking. Maybe we don’t seem to have so many problems with it on night trunks because the only cars there at the times I go over are the odd local who is used to it, night trunkers who are used to it and it’s dark so you can’t actually see how bad it is and therefore don’t worry, you just pick a line in the middle of the snow poles on the sides of the road the snow ploughs use to show them where the road is and plod along at a nice steady pace.
Only time I’ve ever come to a stop is in November when it got to the point I couldn’t even see the road surface directly in front of my lorry or the lights of the lorry that I knew was just in front of me because of the snow blowing off the hillside but once it let off enough to see we were off again.
Must admit what doesn’t help matters is that it can look like there’s next to nothing where the snow gates are but it can change quite significantly in barely a mile further as you climb up. Friday night there was snow over the top a few inches deep but none at all where the snow gates were.
