New limit on the bridge 18 tonne I noticed it last week ,the temporary sign on the A6 coming from kegworth is not overly obvious but coming back to Rempstone lights there are lots of them .
Signs say to use A6 to A46 but less than 14’3 nip through Loughborough up A60 back to Rempstone lights .
How long is temporary? It’s a handy cut-through road that is.

Bugger! That’s my go to route when heading towards Melton for the night after tipping north west.
Just use it I met another artic on the bridge guess what it didn’t fall down.
There no camera, and no low life pensioner with clipboards yet

This caught me out last Monday, turning left from the A6 onto the A6006 heading towards Melton. I’m sure there was not a sign on the A6 (or if so it was well hidden) warning of the new bridge restriction. The first I knew of it was when I was on the 6006 just before the bridge when it was too late. I probably just about got away with it as had an empty box trailer at the time.
However as Moaster says, it’s a bit of bummer not being able to use it anymore because I like to use that route when going from M1 J24 to anywhere East Anglia and South East. It’s a lovely drive through Melton and particularly the Melton-Oakham-Stamford part past Rutland Water and onto the A1. It certainly beats going A52-A1 or M1- A14-A1

I got to those lights then realised there was a small roadworks type sign that said weight limit at Zouch. Wondered how long it had been there as its a whole since I went that way. Used to like that way through. Not surprised at the weight limit which is no doubt to reduce number of hgvs going through, not just the bridge, as I remember thinking when I first went that way that I was surprised they let us cut through such a nice area!

There was an article about this bridge in the local rag a few days ago. Looks like the restrictions are here to stay until they get the money to build a replacement.
