A500 this morning - 08-08-12

Anyone see the truck on it’s side this morning, passed it twice, no idea what happened, just wondering if the driver was ok - it went on it’s left so he should be if wearing seatbelt and not too much crap in cab.

Bit late now for a reply but I heard on R2 traffic news that it
was a load of ‘very large’ concrete blocks that fell off the truck.

I wonder how that happens?

to the left, to the left :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

Saw it just after it happened, one of Mcburneys had had an argument with a Rover 75. Driver was lucky it didn`t go over, left side of trailer was ripped out and concrete slabs were everywhere. Driver seemed ok but shaken.

Yeah that’s the one, the McBurneys.

I thought it had gone over, was a right mess, some of the roof was off, that doesn’t happen if it stays on it’s wheels as a rule?

It does if the concrete blocks were strapped with the little roof mounted straps instead of ratchets to the rave or chassis

Good point, at least the driver attempted to secure them

Stuff like that, it’s a case of trying to stop them getting any momentum up I think, once they’re moving, they ain’t bloody stopping :open_mouth:

I have done some industrial manhole bases to the new maritime depot at brackmills, they were covered in snow when I loaded them, had to clear all that off and then strap all 32 of them down to the chassis whilst the wind was blowing a gale. I was glad I took my time loading when I came back down the 1 in 4 hill at Southowram…
