Good news on the cafe front for a change. A friend of mine has taken over the Hillside Cafe, on the A47 near Belton, Leicestershire. Sue has a high reputation locally for quality food, having previously run the burger van at Sycamore Harley-Davidson in Uppingham. Open 07.00 to 14.00 Mon-Sat at the moment, this will hopefully expand once she gets established, including Sunday opening; goes without saying that it will be popular with bikers on that day though so please don’t squash any Harleys on your way in!
She must have bought it off Martin Salt (readers may have seen his lorry) his wife and daughter ran it. Always is good so you’ll have a loyal customer base. Two flags further along the 47 just past Morcott towards Peterborough is also excellent. They charge a bit more than most, but you get proper butchers sausages and get a massive plate full for breakfast.
