Driving down the A47 this morning at 5am, came up to the kings lynn roundabout over the fly over and as I turned off to go to Norwich I suddenly noticed two signs saying road ahead closed for roadwork’s and no through access for HGV’s
I could not stay on roundabout as was already turning off when I saw the signs so decided to try my luck and thought may be I would get through… if not then there were plenty of places to turn around. Those signs were the first ones I had seen for the A47 closure ahead as I travelled from long Sutton direction .
Now either I was to pre-occupied in overtaking on the dual carriageway and didn’t not see any warning signs or simply none had been put out , does anybody know if there are actually any before you reach the roundabout/flyover
Travelled down the road and low and behold the road was closed , damit and the little country road not suitable for HGV’s so along with 3 other HGV’s I had caught up with we all turned round.
But what surprised me was the amount of HGV’s coming the other way at least 10, towards the closure (past the roundabout). Trolley dollies, tankers, tippers you name it as if none of them were aware the road was closed ahead like i wasnt initially . So that made me wonder if there was actually any warning signs before the roundabout its self…
The diversion for once only cost me 10 mins which makes a change for diversion routes usually planned i think by a pen pusher throwing darts a map to decided the diversion route
the road is closed fror 6 weeks from 16th november both ways
