Toby I have to agree with you to a point about knowing the height of your load and the driver losing his licence, but on this occasion I will probably have to disagree with you.
Now I don’t know the full ins and outs of what happened but what I can say is that the bridge In question is a standard motorway bridge and is not marked up as it is over 16 foot 6 inch and the fact that the said driver had already gone under 5 similar bridges on his route from great Yarmouth and the fact that these loads are carried on standard flat bed trailers on a daily basis from Yarmouth to Aberdeen and has never hit a bridge on that route ever, so there is something more to this than meets the eye, and the said driver has probably done the same load 100’s of times before. so we will have to wait to see if we ever find out the full truth.

Glad to see trucknet csi has solved the case. It’s a standard height bridge, and every now and then things happen beyond your control from the cab, and the dynamics of the load change. One of our drivers loaded a machine in an open top. The machine in question had a conssertina top, wound down for transit. The load was measured on site at 15’9". The top wound itself back out in transit and struck a motorway bridge on the M6. I love the way all drivers are sagged off immediately by those who weren’t there :unamused:
